Hello, Well i have a bad lifter sound in my car. the noise is very loud like grinding and marvels trowing in the floor. It may be because my camshaft lobes are bigger than stocks, my spring valvels could be weak...? I will need to replace the spring valves only or the lifter have to be change too.

What have you done to confirm it's the valve train? just because it sounds like it's coming from the top of the motor doesn't necessarily make it so.

First thing I would do is pull your valve cover and LOOK to see if anything in there is actually damaged. I doubt a grinding noise is coming from your valvetrain, more likely you've got a bearing in either a pulley or the alt/ps/ac that's taking a shit

Or maybe the thorw out bearing. Push in the clutch and see if the noise goes away. My throw out bearing makes a noise like that but only when its cold outside.

x2. My friends miata was making a lifter type noise but they were new. Turned out to be an oblonged rod journal but sounded like it was coming from the top. Dumbass mechanic that put new bearings in it before we bought the "supposedly" rebuilt engine didn't plastigage more than one spot on the journal. Instead of being round, it was oval shaped.

My throw out bearing makes a griding noise like that also when it is cold and goes away when it warms up. But just by listening under the hood, i can tell it is obviously not coming from the engine itself. The grinding is clearly coming from the transmission area. But yes, push the clutch in with it in neutral and see if it goes away. If it does, then the throw out bearing is your problem. Mine has been doing this for three years but i'm not too worried about it. It will be replaced soon though when i start my build in a few months.

I was reading about it, and someone said that it was normal. It wont cause any damage or anything, its just annoying.

THANK YOU,...Well, just finish in rebuild the engine it may need more time to let it idle, so the lifters get oil in it. Just turn it for 10mnts then turn it off. I'm not working in the car yet. As soon as i find any thing,....I'll post it!
