105741, knockoff wastegate Posted by Dsman1, Jan-29-09 04:14 PM
I bought a used wastegate off of a friend of mine and we are not sure of the maker. all i know about it is that it is a knockoff tial sport. it looks exactly like the cheap ebay wastegates so im guessing that is what it is. the problem is that it is set at 12 psi. i was wondering if anyone knows if i can use an actual tial spring. or if anyone has a 2-5 psi spring for this wastegate that they are looking to get rid of. or, last resort, maybe somone could give me the measurements (height, diameter, guage of material) of a real tial sport 2-5psi spring Thanks

Get rid of that ebay crap and buy a real one. the diaphragm will rupture eventually and suddenly you have 20psi of engine destroying boost

Agree, there are some things you can go cheap on, a wastegate is one thing that I would buy name brand.

I'd trust an internally gated turbo before trusting that thing to controlling boost.
It's kinda like using a hibernating bear for a babysitter, they may be safe now, but sooner or later it's gonna maul your kids. Or motor.... whatever.

There is abolutely nothing wrong with internally gated turbos.
