105551, SFMU fitment question for those who have taken one apart before... Posted by clipse_2005, Aug-16-06 04:54 PM
Hey guys, I am going to be installing my SFMU where my windshield washer reservoir used to be. My question is...
On the bottom of the SFMU (the section that has the supply/return ports) the supply port will be facing towards the driver side of the car. Is it ok to take out those 4 screws on the inside of the SFMU to rotate the bottom portion so that the supply port is facing towards the passenger side of the car?

do not take the 4 screws out . you will ruin the valve . you can rotate the top part tho .

AH SHIT! I was talking to someone else last night and he said that it was ok to do it. BASTARD! Is there any way that I can replace the valve without buying a whole new SFMU?

Not that I have heard of. The instructions on vortechs site even say that you will have to replace it if you take out those four screws.
Defintely should have just taken out the top 6 screws and rotated it that way. I have mine set up the same way, supply to the passanger side and adjustment screws facing forwards, return facing down ofcourse.
I would give vortech a call.

You can't rotate the ports without taking out those 4 screws, which is why I did it. Oh well... that pretty much sums up my damn custom turbo kit so far...
Put in a fuel pump = new tank due to stud shearing off Boost/Vac install = gauge stopped working for no reason at all SFMU = This... my fault no doubt, but it still gets to me
NOT gonna let it get me down though!!! This thing will be boosted before the end of the year!!! MUHAHAHAHA

you dont really have to rotate the bottom . i have mine ran in the same place and it came out clean looking without rotating it . the only part i rotated was the top cover and the mounting bracket

Try getting intouch with vortech, they MIGHT work something out with you. Its a long shot but might as well try right? And clipse, looks like you found out the answer to the washer question you had the other day.

HAHAHA no shit! Guess it really doesn't make a difference anymore though huh. I already emailed them but haven't gotten a response yet. If I don't hear from them tomorrow I'll give them a call.
