so this morning i went to a junkyard and got a MAP sensor. well, i actually got 2 of them because i figured one of them would be disgruntled. i was right, the first one i pulled off of a Seabring was bad and the one i pulled off of a V6 Avenger works. hey, the price was right, $2 for 2 MAP sensors.

i get back home and install it. my car works, yay. i still get fuel cut at 0 psi though. so i give in, and go to Shit Shack and buy some goodies...

well, just like Auckum's razor, the most simple explanations tend to be the correct ones.

i built this thing. took me less than 5 minutes to build it and install it. i think the total for parts was less than $5.

it works. really well. too well.

I use a similar conecpt... but slightly different wiring...

You do NOT need a missing link when you do this... not needed. The only thing a missing link would gain you is protecting the MAP for the chance of getting damaged from boost.

i still use a missing link. it's not needed, but it might make my MAP sensor last a little longer. in theory the MAP sensor can withstand a good amount of boost, because it's designed to resist the occasional intake manifold backfire which can be quite a bit of pressure for a short period of time. regardless, i've decided to let it stay in there.

Nice! Mabye I can build one of these for my Z. It would be cheaper than the greddy emanage harness that does the same thing.

I have been hearing a lot of people are having issues with the Missing Link. I've never had a hickup since day one. Weird!

The principle is simple... you use a Zener Diode to limit the voltage. A Zener diode with a rating of say 4.6V will not let any more than 4.6V flow through it... put 5V through it and you get 4.6V out of it...

That's the principle, but you usually need a resistor in there also to limit current flow through the diode.

Works great...
