1050, i'm dying... Posted by jPhright rs t, Jan-19-01 07:59 AM
ok, i really need help on this one... i spent today at the mitsubishi dealership trying to figure out what the hell is wrong... they cleared all the codes from the computer and i insisted that i take a mechanic and we go for a ride... well- all was cool- and then the computer started wigging out again...the same problem...the car jerked...no/little response from the throttle...and then it died... we had trouble cranking it up...but we did... we checked some relays- they were fine... we swapped computers to see if that was the problem... with the new computer we could crank up just fine, but it was weird...when i got the revs to 5 grand (in neutral) i noticed no increase in fuel pressure...scared the crap out of me... also- everyone has been posting about the fuel pump saying it is loud as hell and annoying...i can't hear mine at all...do you think i got a bad pump? this is the first time this happened... also, there is another post about the wiring of the vc1... if i understand correctly, the vc1 only kicks in at like 5 grand because of the fuel cut- right? i'm not sure exactly how hocus wired it- but i'm going to talk with them and then see what's up with that... when we tried to pull the codes from both computers later- we couldn't establish any communication with either computer- odd. they were thinking that the computer might be over heating and then malfunctioning...could this be? i'm thinking of wrapping the downpipe in header tape and maybe fabricating a heat shield to get rid of this problem...or maybe wire in a small fan or something- how would the wiring work? i need any advice and any thoughts that you have... i have to figure this out... a new computer is 700 bucks- that is not an option right now... that's more of a last resort... i don't know...

Check the VC1 wiring. Almost sounds like you're getting fuel cut. What does it do at WOT ?
-DarkOne I'm so bad, i should be in detention.

it's funny- at wot it flies...everything is cool until it starts to act funny, then i get no throttle response... i talked to wyatt today- gonna try to get a different vc1... will definitely be checking the wiring too... i think this is the problem...we'll see what happens... thanks man

Its most likely your VC1... What you can do temporarily to alliviate this problem is run a checkvalve in place of the vc1..

i don't think it's the vc1....i hooked mine up and it's not hard at all....i would think that if they could install a turbo they could install the vc1......i would look at that really quite fuel pump cause mine hums like a freaking bees nest....

when you say hocus, do you mean hocus pocus in Houston?? How much did they install it for? Its the star kit you bought right? Any quarter mile times?

yeah- hocus pocus in houston... i tried to ground the vc1- didn't help... wyatt is supposed to be sending me a new vc1... i asked him about the fuel pump- and he thinks everything should be cool... fuel pressure is always normal and it builds as soon as i hit boost... i just don't understand... we'll see what happens in a couple of days...
