104929, turbo with 10.5:1 compression possible? Posted by allmotorgs, Apr-28-05 12:20 PM
Yeah ive always wondered if its possible to run a low boost turbo set up with 10.5:1 compression pistons, would detonation become a problem? Well obviously eventually it would but does anyone have any clue as to what boost levels, if any, could be safely be run on a higher compression engine?, and is there anything that could be done to allow higher boost, such as bigger injectors if you turn up the boost, im not talking high boost, but something arround 5-8 or anywhere in between.

1. you need to search. this is not a new concept and has been discussed at length. 2. you need to post it in the right forum. 3. yes it possible, but not user freindly. 4. search.

Thats what Im running. Pushing 10 psi and ready to turn it up to 15, but have to mess with the ignition settings on my MS.

/*chimes in*/ Wrong section, bud.
I plan on boosting on 10.5:1CR this winter some time. Do some reading up on it and you will see.

I was boosting 10.5:1 at 8 psi for a bit until I had to smog and I got deployed :P 210 horsepower not very well tuned too. I'm getting my fuel goodies setup right now and after I pass smog turbo goes back on :)

ok so what is a safe boost level with that compression, if i do i would just start out with low like 5 or 6, mostly cuz thats the cheapest way to go, just get the stage 1 kit from hahn and also just to be on the safe side, but down the road whats a safe level to run, my guess is 8psi or so but not sure
