How much timing (for those of you running over 15 PSI of boost) are you pulling and what gas octane are you running?

ignition timing or cam gear timing?

at 15psi on 93 octane, i pulled no timing at all.

x2. most of the time, none needed at those pressures. beyond that is a different story

Yep stock ecu will handle it til about 15. Anything more and you will need A: higher octane fuel B: Water/meth injection C:ignition system. MSD DIS-2 works great. I'm going with water injection and ignition system. I dont think i'll trust just the water injection at 30psi.

I agree, anything above 15psi and you will have detonation, you may or may not hear it but I gaurentee with the proper measuring device, you will find you have it. Now if your using the factory ECU for spark, the ECU is very good at pulling timing quickly and I can pretty mcuh guarentee yours is pulling timing.
Our ECU runs 17 degrees at wot +/-1 degree. At 23 psi at 4500 I am at 10 degrees timing. Any more than that and i have light to mild detonation with 93 octane.
Dino, if your using the map you told me to, you are below 17 degrees at 15psi. I thought so anyway.
Edit: looked at the map Nate was running, same one you told me you use Dino but you said you retarded the may 2-3 degrees ("his map was very advanced" you told me). At 15psi Nate was running 17 degrees at 4000 rpm. If you did retard it then your running 15 degrees or less. So based on that, you are pulling timing.

I'm also running slightly higher compression than most, mine being somewhere just north of 9:1.

How about 15 psi on 91 octane - anyone have any experience here with that causing detonation? I want to get rid of this MSDII (prefer water injection, if anything.)

Back when i was researching the hahn kit awhile back they told me no more than 15psi on 91. They have 93 octane where they're at and they were running 15psi on it. I might run 12-13psi just to be on the safe side with 91. Water injection isn't a bad idea. You could turn the boost up even more. Maybe low 20's depending on the size of nozzle that comes with your water injection kit. Above that though, you may want to have the msd dis 2 with it. That's what i plan to do. The aem kit comes with three nozzles for up to 600hp and 35psi. But that is pretty expensive as far as water kits go. Coolingmist.com has one and devilsowninjection.com does also. They are both about 300 bucks and you can choose the nozzle you want i believe.

Running around 18psi on a 16g I keep my timing around 12-13*. Any more than that and I start picking up some knock with the detcans.
