I went to pick up my car today from the welding shop and it starts fine but after a few seconds at idle dies, so I started it again and the second I pressed a little on the gas peddle it dies, we think the mixture is way too rich but I dont understand how that could be with just 12:1 FMU and 255 fuelpump? any ideas how I could fix this? I had to leave it at the shop cause I cant drive it home and I need a solution for this by monday ;(

Any CEL? My car used to do that and it was the crank sensor. Did it start doing this after the fuel component install? If so it could be whatever was put in.

CEL is on, and its just after I installed both fuel components (Vortech 12:1 FMU and 255lph pump) I was thinking after I got home...when installing the FMU do I remove the stock FPR or not? I've been getting mixed answers on that

I left it in cause I read the Star manual and that says to leave it. ill take it out anyway on monday at my friend's shop...what have I got to lose? besides my pistons I guess:shrug

Wait nevermind, you said your running an FMU, Sorry. Yes you need to keep it hooked up to the stock FPR if your running a regular FMU and NOT a SFMU.

However, are you sure you have it hooked up correctly?

Do you maybe have a large vacuum leak somewhere? Does the FMU have a vacuum source?

I've hooked up the vac source and I made sure to hook up the FMU properly (I think) checked all the vac sources when the car wouldnt start at the shop and they look fine to me

I've been reading some today and now im seeing that the hahn stage 2 kit only has like a 5:1 ratio FMU...if so could my 12:1 be the problem? should I get a recalibration kit for it to bring it down to 6:1?

With stock injectors, 12:1 is fine.

check the map sensor. if you put on a m/l or the half assed check valve. also check the fuel pressure just to make sure the fmu isnt jacking it up for some reason under vac.

not to go left field on this topic but if you leave the factory FPR on, it'll prevent you from seeing more than 60psi of fuel. After realizing that's what the problem was w/ mine about 3 or 4 years ago during my first turbo build, the fuel raised more than 60psi after it was removed.

But my problem seems that its too rich at the moment or something

Started today but still wont idle should be able to drive it home later today

Ok I think the problem is my MAP sensor...im guessing it may not be hooked up right the instructions werent great can anyone walk through which wires they connected to which for me? I tried search but I cant find much on the topic...Thanks

Another update, I took off the FCD today and it ran just fine...even under 6psi of boost...so whats the deal here? should I just leave it off and enjoy it the way it is? or should I get a missing link?

Do you have my FCD?

Not sure, got it from treadstone, has 5 wires, 2 orange, 1 yellow, 1 green, 1 black and no matter how I hooked it up I couldnt get it to work

Oh, thats deff not mine. Send me $25 and I will send you out a working FCD tomorrow. Missing Links suck.

Did you switch the Vref and +12 like we talked about?

I know you said the two orange wires werent labeled.

yeah we switched all the wires various ways and couldnt get it to run right, took it off and it ran perfectly...even hauled ass under 6psi without the FCD all the way up to near redline (I never go all the way to red) without anything cutting out
