103381, Boosting Issues, No Blowoff When Driving.... Posted by greekgodchaos2, Apr-24-08 08:05 PM
Hi,
I just finished my turbo project on my RS-T, and I took it for a drive today just up and down my street for a test run, and I don't think I'm building any boost. I tried running it to about 5000rpm and then shifting, but i cannot hear my BOV doing anything, I just don't know whats going on. My MBC is set to roughly 5lbs of boost, and I tapped the back of my intake mani for the BOV vac source. I have heard of loosening the bolt on top of the BOV for less resistance, but it doesn't seem to help much. Can anyone help me out? Thanks guys.

Do you not have a boost gauge to tell if you're building boost or not? If not you better get one. I would think you're not building boost, otherwise, you would still probably hear the oh so wonderful compressor surge

Uh, intake manifold?
Why are you trying to boost your car without a boost gauge? That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. You obviously don't give 2 shits about your motor if this is the case.

i do care about my engine, besides, i have only taken it on 3 runs on about an 1/8mile stretch. no HWY runs yet. I'm going to install the gauge later and ill get back to you guys. i also think i discovered the problem, one of my intercooler pipes was not clamped down properly and so it like blew off, but i went through and re-tightened everything so it should be all good. thanks for the input guys. much appreciated.

the reason its dumb to not run with a boost display.
you forget to put the c clip on the wastegate arm.
20psi for about 30 sec then POW your are walking home.
Would you run with no oil 1/8 a mile, I didnt think so. That is the only thing that you have to tell you whats going on with your car. as it is you have issues. Just think if it was too much boost.

Put your damn boost gauge on. You make it seem like it's going to take a few hours. Mount the gauge in the pod, route the wires and vac line and hook everything up. Shouldn't take more than 30-45 minutes.
Also, you didn't need to make another thread about your car smelling of tacos. Mmmmmmm, tacos.
Have you ever pulled your head?
If not, that composite headgasket may have taken a dump on you.... Check head and deck for flatness, apply mls headgasket and new headbolts, boost.

Dude. Quit telling everyone on here to pull their heads at the 1st sign of something MAYBE being wrong. There are many simpler tests that can be done before having to yank a head off and redo'ing all the timing.
Jeebus. :rolleyes

First of all you need to check your list of everything you need to turbo an eclipse. and then do not for any reason drive it until the list is completed. How did you figure out anything to do to this car? because after just 2 of your posts its obvious you dont really have a clue what you are doing. What all is in your set-up? asking some these guys on here "whats this do?" without telling us what "THIS" is. does you or us no good. before you reply to any other post on here you should include you entire setup. so we can tell you what you are doing wrong before you really screw something up.....
