i have finally gotten to the bottom of the problem of my smoking exhaust problem....blown oil seals, so i ordered an oil inlet restrictor. now i have just a quick question, does this mean i need to buy a new turbo? or is there any easy way to replace the seals? thanks for your time guys.

What turbo?

You should call whoever made the turbo and see if they offer rebuild kits.

They include everything you'll need. Sucks that you have to buy a rebuild kit to get the seals but that's how it works....

That restrictor should keep it from happening prematurely again. +1 getting to the bottom of the problem.

Sucks man, but it was nobody's fault but your own.

Do what 2GeclipseRS said, contact the manufacturer and see if you can get a rebuild kit or if they can rebuild it for you. Rebuilding a turbo isn't really a DIY job, it has to be balanced afterwards.

Ok, the problems just keep stacking up on me for some reason...i hate life. Turns out that the flange for my Oil Feed Line already had a restrictor built into it so i have no just have no fucking clue about what is going on. Please help me out. I dont know if the oil seals were bad before hand, but I am just out of ideas now.

Garrett BB turbo?
if so it may look like it has a restrictor in it but its still way too big.
old school way was to use nitrous jets in the hole as they actually drop right in.

but the true Garrett BB restrictor is a .035" hole

its just a t3/t4 hybrid, and the restrictor hole is about the size of a small pin hole, its really tiny. i have no idea what is going on, at one point i had a temporary oil return line setup which MAY, may have caused blown seals, but i am not sure. here is a pic of it, the red line is the old oil return

i have a legit setup now thats not as stupid as the one above, and goes straight down. could the old setup have caused a backup pooling in the turbo and caused the pressure to blow or warp the seals?

most likley since the oil drain is ment to be gravity and it looks like it even had to go UP-hill.

but it really depends on how long it was driven with the CHRA full of presurised oil.

i bairily ran the car at all. the only things i can think of that mught have blown the seals are that i accidentally ran the engine with rather old oil in the engine, which i promptly replaced with fresh chevron 5-30 oil about 30 min after the first time i ran it. keep these idiot facts in mind here. i orginally ran the turbo with old oil and had an uphil return line :(, wow im stupid lol. thats all i can think of now...can anyone else come up with any ideas?

That very well may be the source of your problem.

Holy hell i so wouldn't have rushed into that.

Had i been in the shop with you, i would have slapped you with that hose.
