Hey guys,

I finally got around to picking up a compression gauge at AutoZone the other day.

Well, I just walked in from the garage and here are my results after being HRC Stage 5 for over a year now.

I don't drive the car a whole lot, but when I do, I sure vent some kickass frustration resulting in 26-28psi high boost runs on occasion and normal 18-20 psi around town driving.

Staring from the driver side cylinder (I call it cylinder one).

Cylinder 1: 200
Cylinder 2: 220
Cylinder 3: 210
Cylinder 4: 205

All within 25% of one another, so I guess she's taking my abuse pretty well, huh?

Just thought I would share my results with the board.

Actualy you really dont want to have a differance of more than 10 between your higest and lowest result. Also you say 26 PSI. How? you must have something to retard your timeing right. Cause more than 15 psi on a regular basis will destroy your bottom end due to detonation. I know cause at 22 psi I blew my last motor and was just informed that it was due to my motor getting hot (detonation) and causeing the rings to over expand into the block. I know you have a Accel DFI, but is it a full dfi with timing control as well? and if so it must be hooked up. Please I am interested in hearing more about this. Thanks, Ray

Yeah, the DFI controls knock and timing and all that. Right now I am going through the process of checking all the wires and sensors and making sure everything is set up properly in the calmap software.. I just got the software so I am just now learning how to tune it properly and check for errors, which I have found a few already... Now that I finally got the engine back together, I am now in a huge process of tuning.. I'll let you all know as it comes along.

BTW, I rate this a 10 on my "I-fucked-up-ometer"... I screwed in the fitting on the compression gauge and then screwed it into the spark plug hole, what I didn't notice is that when I unscrewed it from cylinder 1, the fitting was still stuck down in the cylinder... So I went on(it didnt need the fitting I screwed on) and checked the compression in the rest of the cylinders and then screwed the plugs back in.. When I screwed the plug into cylinder 1, I heard it crack and took it out.. I still didnt realize what I had done so I put another NGK in and screwed it in and again, cracked the porcelean on it too... Took it out and shined a light down there and saw how big of a dumbass I was... I can't get the fitting out by screwing the end of the compression gauge back in and unscrewing it.. So I put some locktite on the fitting and screwed it in, I'll wait till tomorrow and then it should allow me to remove the fitting... Then I'll use the shopvac and a home made attatchment to try and suck all/any of the broken porcelan out from on top of the piston... Tell me that's not one of the most retarded things you've heard someone do.

26-28 psi will not happen on pump gas. That is a race gas proposition. It is very doable though on your setup with race gas. Also be careful if you think the Accell is controlling your timing. The only way it could control your timing is if you add a distributor which would not make sense to do. It does not understand a distributorless ignition. You probably do have timing retard going on, but with a MSD DIS-2 not the Accell.

If that is the case (which I think prob is) then the MSD is not enough due to it limitations and inacuracies in tuning. Unless you have the Boost sensitive timing retard module along with the MSD. If not I have one for sale. That will retard your timing per every pound of boost it reads.

The MSD by itself is basic, I agree, but it is working :) They do now offer a fully programmable upgrade which we have had a chance to play with and offers 100% full control over timing in all conditions.

Ok, I just woke up and got the fitting out of cylinder 1 this morning, took a little bit of effort, but it finally came out with a little heat. I vaccumed out the cylinder, and then warmed up the engine and checked cylinder 1 compression again.. 210, that's better. It was 210 yesterday, but leaked off to 200(I think this was because of the fitting not sealing properly).

Pure Rage, I think I might hit you up on that msd module, sounds good. So that interfaces with the msd dis-2?

Murix, yeah, I am always running turbo blue or aviation fuel, is that bad to run every tank? I don't have a cat. I just want to be safe as far as detonation goes.

:D hehe - a little pricey to do that but hell of fun. I would run 25psi all day if I could do that too
