ok so back when i first installed my treadstone turbo kit, i had a hell of a time with overheating-due to my mistake of using a plugged radiator. so anyway ever since then ive had a problem with the cooling system in that it starts to fluctuate in temperature and boils out the coolant. Ive pressure checked the system several times and each time i find no leaks. I replaced the water pump with a new unit when i rebuilt the motor and the thermostat and radiator hoses/radiator are all new. I think that my problem is that the coolant is getting heat soaked from the hard line that runs across the head above the exhaust manifold. I watch my EGT's like a hawk and on some long hills( thats about all i have around here) the EGT's will climb up to 1400-1450 (probe is in the #4 runner) and then come back down when im passed the hill. this is when i usually notice the temperature coming up. what can i do to help prevent heat soaking of this line? i know a heat shield or a ceramic coating would be the best bet, but thats not really feasable at this point. i did buy a turbo wrap kit and i do have some of the aluminized blanket left over, and i was curious if wrapping that line would help keep it cool. any advice would be appreciated.

what are your oil temps doing during all this?
mine used to do this during the summer and my oil temps were rather high as well. i installed a Fluidyne and a thermostated oil cooler and all stays normal now.
now whether it was the fluidyne or the oil cooler i cant tell as they went in together.

EGT's of 1400-1450 are quite low. I've seen mine go up to 1650 running at a perfect mixture (roughly 11.5:1, around 22 PSI of boost pressure on a 16G) with no damage, although it's usually a good idea to stay below 1600.

to tell you the truth, i dont have any way to monitor the temperature of my oil... but i figured id try using a wrap on that line that hard coolant line that runs across above the exhaust manifold and see if that helps the issue.

Well I really don't have an issue with that line cuz I removed it (LOL) and also removed all the heater hoses. I guess it aint an option for some of you guys cuz i live In Puerto Rico and the weather is hot all the time so all I need is the AC. Anyways I was just about to post a question about EGT's I've been told to keep my EGT's lower than 1200 but I've been close or at 1200 and I don't feel anything wierd in the car. What is the safe top temp. I can go up to? If I am too hot what will I notices in the car?

id love to remove all those lines too, but its just not an option since i live at 7,000 ft above sea level, it gets kinda cold here sometimes. id love to re-route that line too, but im not sure how id do it or where id put it. but as far as EGT's go ive heard different things depending on where the probe is placed. I put mine in the #4 runner instead of after the turbo.. ive always assumed around 1550 is safe. correct me if im wrong...

Well mines a few inches away from the turbo, but i would really like some input regarding the top EGT recommended...
