well ive been running no filter on my turbo but instead 3 pieces of metal window screen with a hose clamp so my question is is this a bad idea for a daily driver?or is it ok to run with the screens.

because i cant find a filter small enough to fit

Reducer coupler+bigger compressor inlet pipe=ability to run an easier to find air filter.

Yes, but not just because you might pic up something big (nut or bolt size), but because you have already done damage to your system. You have picked up larger particles of dirt etc and they are fouling up your turbo and your system.

Put a filter on it.

Run no filter, you get WAAY more hp by doing it yo.

What I like to do is actually cut the sock off right where the toes go and stretch it onto the turbo inlet and then secure it with either a clamp, electrical tape, rubber bands, etc. (whatever you have lying around). You see, the less of the sock you use, the more it stretches when you put it on, that equals MORE AIR going through which equals MORE POWAA!

make sure you use a sock with the red stitching on the toe
cuz every body knows THE RED ONES GO FASTA!!

oil
coolant
power steering fluid
brake fluid
Tranny fluid
a brain

The first five should keep her on the road. The last one will keep her on the road for a long time.

ok so the s13 factory filter hooked right up so im good,thx for baggin on me not everyone can afford there turbo kits put together for them.I would of had a filter on if i could of found one small enough sooner.

people on this board ENJOY putting square pegs into round holes, that is the essence of owning / tuning a 420A, but doing it half-ass makes us laugh.

trust me not everyone here just point and clicked there turbo kit off Hahn.com most people spent a lot of time sourcing the right parts and reading on how to do this. it took me about 4 years to source everything i wanted (and then promptly blew up) to get where i am now.

car went back to stock till i could rebuild my fuck up. my father laughed and said "hmm gonna be working some overtime now huh?"

suck it up, realise it was a bad call and move on laugh back at the guys later. every one of us has had a bone head move now and then. some of the posts that the OG members have made would make you laugh and realise not to take the ribbing too seriously.

lol was it really that bad an idea?...what sux is im gonna have to leave them on till that filter comes in from ebay :thumbsdown hopfully nothing bad happens between now and then...

Spooled: You're absolutely right. Not everyone can afford a turbo kit outright. You gather parts for your own kit on your own time when you have the money to burn. Like foggy said, you need to do it right. You can't afford to break your car obviously so listen up when people have something to say in regards to your setup.

Foggy: I second the bone-headedness. For instance, me drifting my car over a sand bank and filling the thing with sand. After i said "no more ff drifting", i decided to drift a turn at 90mph when i was wet out. Needless to say, my front tires didn't want to grip so i had NO control over the slide. Ended up going sideways up a hill. Came 2 feet from slamming into a rather thick tree. 1 foot to the left and i would have slammed into a power box.

Lesson learned. Because of my stupidity (i should have learned from other's stupid mistakes first), a multitude of very bad things could have happened instead of me cleaning my car up mumbling curse words to myself......

hey think of it this way...

if you suck up some sand and rocks you'll have a ported and clipped turbo. sick!
