Well a buddy of mine and I hope to get our cars running again and head to the track in the spring/summer. I did a search on "mods before nitrous" and saw a post of a guy who had just a CAI, Catback and some headers who ran a 50 shot. Now my setup is pretty much stock, with the exception of my CAI, N1-style muffler and adjustable cam gears as of right now. Could I run a 50-shot on my mostly-stock setup or would that be suicide on my engine? Just wanting to be sure before i commit...

Just have some extra $ just in case something goes wrong. I ran a 75shot on my stock talon that had over 120k miles on it. Never once had a hiccup or problem.

how meny miles are on your engine right now? That is really the main question, because if your over like 130000 miles, ] i cant see you getting that meny shots in before you burn some rings at the least. Im sure people will dissagree, but i dont think i would risk it.

Well the whole car (engine included until August) has just below 150k miles on it, but my engine underwent a stock rebuild from parts dino back in August due to a spun bearing, and then again in September-November due to my rod caps being mismatched (i was oblivious) and spun a bearing again. The bottom end so far as of now since the last rebuild has around 850 miles on it, so it's still pretty fresh. Just changed the bearings this time around so the bearings will have only around 50. Will have a few thousand from traveling to and from college between now (or when i get it running right again) until late March.

I ran it on mine and had 145k on it and it loved it! You need to do a compression check on it and see how the compression is, since you rebuilt it, it should be good. I ran a 50 and made around 160 to the wheels and then bumped it up to a 75 and never dynod it again. I have since put a built for boost engine in and have yet to spray it but the shots been bumped up to a 150(6) I love nitrous, its fun and a great way to make power and torque but it can be dangerous if not used/installed correctly. well if your engine is mostly stock, and is rebuilt recently then i wouldnt worry about it. The more power mods the more hp you would have(yes thats obvious) and if you added nitrous you would have that much more. So say you have 150 hp right now and you run a 50 shot, you would only be up to 200. New Stock internals should hold up pretty well to that alright. Now say you had a 200hp engine running stock internals and you added a 50 shot and brought it up to 250, you would probably break something. So basically what im getting at is you dont need a bunch of power mods to run nitrous and keep your engine reliable.

I plan to upgrade my stock internals eventually (over the summer/early fall possibly...depending on my funds), but for now I want to gain a SMALL edge at the track in the spring/summer so I can start earning some cash for future mods. I e-mailed and double checked, and Branden from HPF informed me it is indeed a wet-shot, so it should be able to run fine on my 99 RS.

I have the one for 499.99, plus a bottle heater, It uses the same style solenoids as NX and the jets even have NX stamped on them. Even the solenoids come witha lifetime warranty so if you want to save a couple bucks I'd say go with this one, but to each his own.

i ran 50 and 75 shot as well on my car with just bolt ons it was fun, just dont be spray happy like some people are, turbos are alot more fun but nitrous is good cheap alternative if you dont abuse it and spray all the time, but good luck.

Speaking of which how much is a bottle anyways? If you just want to refill it that is...assuming you have a 50-shot.

It varies from place to place. My local guy fills a 10lbs bottle for about $45. The smaller the shot the more sprays you can get out of a bottle.

Like he said it really depends, there is only about two shops around here, and one charges 80 for a 10lb bottle which is insane. Ive seen other shops do it for 25$ a bottle so you really should check it out first.

Ah ok, that's much more reasonable than I was thinking lol...almost makes me wanna try it after I turbocharge......then again the turbo will probably make me more than happy hehehe.
