Not really... an EGT gauge can be used as an alternative, but only to tell you when you're running into trouble. It can't indicate AFR with any degree of precision at all.

A wideband is a necessity to "tune".

Yeah. An EGT wraps your engine in a magical gas temp field, preventing all all damage. Takes two mana to tap.

No.

Lol, what color mana would that be? Blue? Does it count as an enchantment, and could it be cast at instant speed?

this thread is funny

my vote is zeitronix since it rules and you can get their display that can show 4 things at once or get their new display that fits in a gauge pod

not to mention you can start out basic and add to it along the way, boost, egt, etc.

Here it is.

I like the fact you can display not just A/F but any value that can be displayed on a gauge.

Pricey but useful as a motherfucker, especially if you dont want your cockpit cluttered with gauges yet want to know everything that's going on with your vehicle at any given time.

:) Whatever. I thought it was neat. I'd drop coin on it. I probably will.

zeitronix route is actually cheaper....but hey.

ok i know im gonna get flamed or somthing for not getting a wideband yet but in the meentime can i go off of my map sensor voltage from my safc to kinda tell if im running into trouble?pleaze dont kill me :dark

MAP sensor voltage doesn't tell you anything about AFR. It only tells you one of multiple factors that are used to determine air going into the mix. At the very least, you need something like Corbin's digital A/F gauge.

Well my question would be what tool are you going to use to "tune"? If your profile (on that other site)is correct and all you have is the safc and an FPR then you won't really be "tuning" much of anything anyway. In that case a EGT will be important so you know if you are getting close to the danger zone. Once you hit 1600 you may just be melting something. The only thing your map voltage will tell you is if you are in open loop mode, and a very basic reading of A/F. You should be looking for somewhere around .93 or higher IIRC on those voltages. Unless you are using MegaSquirt or some type of piggy back fuling system then a WB will be almost useless as you have no way to adjust anything based on it's feedback anyway.
