I rememebr seeing a ver through faq written by someone on step by step engine rebuilding. I can not fid it no matter where I look. If anyone knows what I am talking about can you please send me the link.

Corbin has a nice writeup:

along with the Haynes (for illustrations and thats about it!) and along with the FSM you can't go wrong.
