100386, SFMU Static Not Changing
Posted by RfOeCnKdOeNr, Jun-03-07 06:02 PM
Hey guys, I just finished my turbo build and things are going alright except for this wonderful SFMU. I am running Accel 30# injectors (high impedance), Stainless feed and return (all 6an). I have the 2.72 disc and ring installed and my static fuel pressure is a little below twenty. But so is my idle fuel pressure. There is no difference between the two. And when I screw the static nut in or out there is no change in fuel pressure. I have searched and the only solutions I have found are a kinked line (but I have checked and they are good) What is going on?? I dont understand this SFMU!!!

So the static screw on the top has no effect or the vacuum screw on the side??

To get the idle FP to get lower, you may need to purchase the inline restrictor from Vortech which goes inline to the vacuum hose going to the unit(cost about $8). It helped lower mine.

Yeah I am going to order that with the bleed valve soon. Actually, now I want to raise my static because after driving it for a few miles the static (without vacuum line plugged in to the SFMU) and idle pressure is about 12 psi. Shouldn't there be a difference between the two?

It sounds like something is stopping the spring from touching the regulator inside. Be sure the ring is definitely LARGER than the disc and it should be installed RING....DIAPHRAM.....DISC RETAINER.....DISC....then the SPRING.

Disc retainer??

Okay so I got the static all set now, the screw is adjusting and what not. But now when I hit boost the pressure does not rise and the wideband leans out. Once again, all I can find for a solution on the board is a kinked hose... thats not it. Why is this SFMU kicking my butt?

Is the vacuum hose secured without any leaks?

did put in those 3 screws on the side? when you talked to me last you said the bleed valve, boost valve and vacuum screws were all missing.

Gee, that might give you some serious headaches, lol. The vacuum adjuster is a special screw too with a pin hole thru the center and a check ball and spring that goes behind it. If you dont have the ACTUAL ones that come with the S-FMU, I suggest getting new ones from Vortech.

No those are all there, but my father took off the bottom! Because the piston was stuck. Damnit... What do I do with it now? Its not working when I boost. It will not rise. Below boost the car runs awsome.

I think I am going to send it back to Vortech, I got a RMA number. What do you guys suggest I use as temporary unit? Just get a 6:1 FMU? Will that work with my 30# injectors? Because who knows how long it will take to get back the SFMU.

um, just a dumb thought. i had that problem when i first installed and it was cause i had the sfmu line on the fuel evaporative line tee. it has a check valve on it.

You cant just use a standard FMU unless you have a seperate FPR to use with it also.

No i removed the stock regulator and was running just the SFMU on the return.

Then you'll either have to get an adjustable FPR for now and a FMU or just have the car sit until you get the SFMU back.

What kind of FPR should i get, thats just to control the idle right?
