my dad's friend is running one of these on his Porsche 944 turbo, that thing is a beast, what do you guys think about a 2gnt application?

Intercooler kind of does same thing IMO. Keeps air colder.

I like the concept. Theoretically, we could position this, depending on its size, closer to the throttle body as to limit the exposure to heat of the charged air, after it has been cooled. Also, 2g-a smiley face fans would be able to keep the bucked-tooth fog lights that would normally be lost for an intercooler. More of a sleeper style as well.

eh IDK. The only example they have is on the porsche and just have an estimate of the flow improvements. You need to have actual numbers. And they say "The pressure drop across this assembly is substantially less than your conventional type air-to air or air-to-water intercooler cores." Yet you really only see a couple psi drop with a FMIC which can easily be fixed with a mbc.

trust me, air flow on a Porsche is nothing like it is on a dsm, the front end is sealed up pretty good, and there is a wind deflector on the bottom of the engine to actually help keep wind off the engine, and the way some people are running big bumpers, i don't know, I was kinda thinking the same thing c8 was saying with the way we could position the unit closer to the TB, and if someone really wanted to get crafty and run two of these bad boys,
 I like how that one is set up, one before the stock intercooler, and one after, the stock intercooler on those cars is similar in size to a 2g rx7's someone could really get good use out of this with a smaller SMIC

It sounds like a similar premise to an air-to-water intercooler, but I doubt the surface area of this thing can compare. Intercooling is all about the largest effective surface area to maximize heat transfer, while hopefully minimizing detrimental flow distruptions.
I just can't see a Thermal Hard Pipe cooling the air charge to the same degree as an intercooler (air-to-air or air-to-liquid). Like Corey said, we'd need numbers to make an apt judgment.

Maybe if you used something like an A/C Refrigerant and replaced the evaporater core with that thermal pipe, but then you have to deal with running the compressor which would counteract the effects of the extra cooling... screw it, I'll just get a CO2 kit for the intercooler.
