Alright, my N/A motor is getting ready to fall out of the car.

my motor mounts are shot, my clutch is starting to slip, th oil pan is wasted and my HG is leaking.

I have a built motor and turbo sitting at the house just waiting for a few more parts. I was planning on running MSnS and going ro 15-20psi right off the bat with the built motor. I think I am running out of time with the current motor. Its gettting harder to start every morning and there is alot of stumbling until it warms up.(sounds like a set of cams)

I have not purchased the MSnS or a wideband yet, nor do I have the money right now.

If I picked up a 12:1 FMU and an FCD,and instaled motor running 6-8psi. This would be changed out as soon as I get the rest of the parts and some time for the MSnS install.
My Question is, other than beating the ever living snot out of my injectors, is it somewhat safe to run the car like that with no wideband?

why don't you just swap motors...break the new engine in, then at the same time accumulate what you need to turbo. when your ready to turbo, the engine will be fully broken in. just my 2 cents :)

I was thinking of that. But I will add that the motor has been broken in. I am tring to minimize downtime. I work about 75-80 hrs a week. I was planing on taking some vacation time and installing the motor and turbo. Having the turbo in even at low boost will lend some satisfaction to the daily commute.

I figure that sometime between sept and the end of the year, I should be able to install the MSnS. Money has been pretty tight latly.

My main concern is that I dont want to blow up my motor, I figure that if I run the 12:1FMU the fuel pres. will be high and Ill run rich. I know I will riding on the edge of injector failure aswell.

I dont konw, maybe Ill just toss the motor in N/A for a while.

That's the way we did it for years. it's fine.

But without a Wideband, how's he going to tune it, by EGT's? Pfft!

Just run your motor till it pukes blood and do the swap, if you work 80hours a week you can't be far off from making enough dough for the MSnS.

yeah but I have to pay the mortgage.

And the motor is puking oil all over my driveway. I am going through about a gallon of oil a week right now. I really can immagine that it could puke more unless I trow a rod.

The lack of money is compunded with the ammount of debt I have paid over the last 6 months. I have paid out about 8,000 in debt. I only have about 1,500. Although now I am left playing catch up with the house hold bills. Man it cost a fortune to heat my place over the winter. I still owe the gas co about 800, thats only half. I dont want to buy anything else until all my debt is paid and I start having more then a week to week bank acct.

I have been looking at my assembeled engine for about 3 moths now while it sits paitently in the living room.

well the woes of my car have been solved for a bit. I have secured a small loan to pay off the remainder of my debt and I have allowed myself enough to pic up a MSnS, a wideband O2, tuning, and whatever else might come up during the swap. As for what to drive while I work on the car, that has vbeen solved aswell. I will be driving my ex gf's car. We ended on fairly good terms. She has no need for one of her cars and she was going to sell it. I was talking to her and she offered me the car for as long as I need it. That taked a huge wieght off of my sholders now.


The plan is now, next week or so, take my car off of the road and start driving the Lex, and I figure that 2 months should be more than enough time to shag the rest of the parts, do the install and get the car tuned.

Ill keep you guys updated on the progress.

Glad to see you've figured things out. I know how you feel about wanting to pay off your debt, I absolutely hate owing money to anyone for anything.

There's no tuning involved with fmu and stock injectors, just make sure the fmu works and don't boost too much

Im skipping the FMU, I am going MSnS right off. I am trying to figure out what wideband to get now. I am putting a list together for the remaining parts needed, and they will be ordered this week.

By june 1st I will be taking my car off the road and the motor swap will be started.

I dont this that the actual motor swap and FMIC install should be too hard. Wiring up the MSnS is where I am going to need some time. Once thats in, I get a map put together and get it running. At that point its off to the shop to be tuned.

Once that beast is all tuned, time to drive it!
