99726, the dent
Posted by Hedge, Sep-20-07 11:40 AM
when i first bought my car, the guy that did the pre safty managed to put a dent in my door that i didnt see when i picked up the car. its not to noticeable unless your at certan angles but it really bothers me. im not going to complain to the guy that did it, because i bought it about 2.5 hours from where i live and im not really willing to make the trip. anyways, i cant pull it out because of the shape but i should be able to push it from inside the door panel. im really afraid of the paint cracking though. like terribly afraid. the paint is not cracked now, but i think it might. here is a pic form the best angle i could get it to show up.
I want to know if i should try to push it out and risk the paint cracking, and just buff it or bring it to a shop and pay a rediculiously overpriced amount to fix it.

Don't try it yourself. It isn't that easy.

Take it to a paintless dent repair guy for an estimate. If you can't afford to have him fix it then buff it out and leave it alone.

A body shop will have paintless dent guy do it and charge you extra for the trouble or they will want to repaint or blend the whole panel which is more than you want to pay I bet.

Thats too big for a paintless dent remover to do I bet. I personally would pull it out, sand it and smooth it out with some filler and then bring it to a body shop and have them spray it. Maybe cost you $40 to fill it and sand it and another $200 to have it sprayed.

at advanceautoparts or autozone, There's a dent puller Called DENT King,

Its like a suction cup with a puller. My step dad used one on his Neon. Worked great there was tapping a in the dent and pull it out( A body would use this method to fix it)

Could you post a pic of the whole from that side, hard to see the dent

here is a pic of the hole car from the side. the dent is a bit harder to see, but from some angles its deadly obvious.

dry Ice on a hot day can sometimes take out most of the dent, or if no really hot days are available, a heat gun works too.

might lift it enough to buff the scratch.
