so i heard Rhino lining is a good sound barrier and anti-vibration application. Can someone tell me from experence about how well it keeps sound out or will it be better to use dynamat? thanks

One thing to remember here, is that rhino stuff is spray-in/on polyurethane. You'll be looking at quite a bit of down time if you go that route. Plus, I'm not sure if dealers even do interior jobs for that. It would probably be easier to go the dynamat route. As far a cost goes, I can't make a comparison, as I have no idea what rhino liners cost.

well got a rough estimate and its a do it your self thing and not the cheap kind, but it will cost about 150 to rhino line it. and the dynamat it it will be about the same but i think it will weight alot more. i just need to know does it help out alot in keeping sound out of the car. i have a greddy evo 2 ehaust and i love the sound but not the vibration and noice on the highway.

it will help more then not having anything but u would have to do the whole interior which then becomes more mess,time and money . the proper way to do it is sound deadener . i used a roll of 120sq ft of elemental designs v1se sound deadner . works as good or better then dynamat . it is also way cheaper . you can also use ed liquid edead v3 that brushes on . my exhaust use to soound crazy louds inside the car now it is lower than a stock exhaust inside and system sounds way better also .

for sound deadening, you don't need to cover every last square inch of sheetmetal, just the wide flat areas that are more prone to resonating. a single bulk pack of dynamat or similar product is plenty to cover most of the major resonant areas in our cars and give a BMW quiet interior.

Edit: most "rhino" style linings aren't dense enough for true sound deadening.

BMW quiet? Is that like REALLY quiet (honestly, there is no sarcasm in my question) I dont know if its my tires, or if its becaus the RS came with no extra padding like other models, but it gets noisy as heck on the highway. I love the sound of the engine but it gets boring at some point.

Ronin you should do a quick write up on which areas are the most crucial when using the products. I want a "BMW" quiet experience in my piece O' junk! I should only be able to hear engine/exhaust/road noises when I have the windows down.

So many things to do, so little money!

So, maybe not brand new BMW quiet, but 90's BMW quiet. I just rode in a brand new '08 5 series, it was coffin quiet (I wasn't sure the car was running)

Well, the last BMW I rode in was a '95 325is that had a messed up suppension, and had front end damage, loud as hell. I would of bought it regardless, but the seller, was a lier and I wasn't about to give him my money.

What happened to your car? Im waiting on money to get my engine rebuilt, so maybe you'll have it done by the time my car is running also?

I actually had a weird idea regarding rhino lining. I was thinking about maybe getting the underside lip of my front bumper lined with that stuff so that I can scrape the bumper w/o worries if I don't think I can clear a driveway or a speedbump (I loved my lowered cars too much =D).

The only thing I need advice about is whether or not there is flex. If the stuff doesn't flex, I don't feel like having my bumper crack paint and body wise lol.

i have some rhino lining done on my car, right under my doors i have it front wheel to rear,looks great and keeps rock chips and scraches from occuring down there. the front bumper would be a great idea, the rhino lining container says that it is flexable.

I think it flexes, it's pretty much a thick rubber type stuff, maybe get a quart can from the autoparts store?
