98866, Check it out!! Painted Interior Pics!! Posted by Slimyjr., May-07-07 10:05 AM
Hey guys finally got my interior done, still deciding about headliner and don't have my glovebox in but i couldn't wait to post! Here's what i did followed by pics:
1. Dismantled interior pieces(labeled each piece with baggy for screw/bolts 2. Sanded down lightly to remove armor-all and washed with armor-all car wash(in super hot water) 3. Used cheap wal-mart enamal paint($3.00 a can?) 4. Used cheap clear coat. 5. Waited for 2 weeks and then armor-all'd it
Here's some pics, tell me what you guys think and if you have any questions!

It's Red not orange lol. Noticed that the date on the camera off by quite a bit. Welp tell me what you guys think!

looks clean, color's a bit bright for my tastes, I'm turning my grey interior to black with a few mopar grabber green highlights, using the krylon fusion stuff, seems to work pretty good. what'd you use?

98868, RE: Check it out!! Painted Interior Pics!! Posted by Slimyjr., May-07-07 10:55 AM
I used wal-mart enamel, but then they ran out of stock, so i went to the local hardware store and got some offbrand stuff. Not the greatest, wish i would of went the SEM paint but o well still looks sweet.

ditto, of the pieces I've done with the krylon the only scratches so far are from actually gouging the plastic, I was so afraid where the zipper is on my jacket it would tear the hell out of the center console, not a mark yet

Looks ugly in my opinion.
Was done right (dismantling, sanding etc.) though so I'll give you credit for that. :thumbsup

I have to agree with this guys comments. The work was done good but the color is ugly. You should have picked a better color to go with the exterior color of your car. Gray and orange do not go well together. You should have left the interior stock or painted it black. Orange just doesn't go. :nono

Its red not orange. The sunlight and the camera make it appear that way. Thanks for the honest comments though. Personally i like the way it turned out, i would have to agree with you guys that the orange color it appears to be is pretty nasty.
In regards to my choice of paint, PLEASE DO NOT use cheap enamel paint. You will regret it. You can either do it right or do it cheap. If you want to have a good paint job that doesn't chip or fade, go with SEM or dye. The enamel chips pretty easily, and i even put 4-5 coats of clearcote on each piece. Hope this helps guys!

In all seriousness though, the way it came stock (grey and black) goes GREAT with the color of your car. Sure, if you had a red car, red accents might be a reason to paint it. But, as it sits, you still have grey and black pieces aside from the red that distract from what you're trying to do. So, in the end, it just looks like 3 different colors thrown together that don't match at all. Get what I'm saying?
Just from personal experience, people who have accented their car with blue, red, or yellow paint removed it a few years later once they wised up and saw how bad it looked.

Yea, if my car came with grey and black interior. It was all grey, and trust me, it looks way, way better than it did before. There was so much wear and tear on it that it made me ashamed.

I have to be honest, that looks good.
I say that because i've seen some pretty shitty (excuse the language) interior paintjobs. My friend has a a 2g GST and the guy who sold the car to a guy who had the car before my friend bought the car (whew!) painted it an ugly yellow color. Then he decided he wanted it some pearl orange color and i guess he went cheap because the entire paintjob is chipping like woah and needs to be redone. The interior is just as slack. Huge paint run on the airbag cover......chips all over the door pannels and runs. Some of the vents look good but other than that, no. Just no.
Anothe friend of mine had used some blue krylon to do up his crx....turned out like ass.
I like it. Red, black and silver go good together, IMO.

Even I think thats too much/too bright. Take into consideration im doing the RED-BLACK theme on the outside, and GREY-RED on the inside, a little more subtle though, with maroonish, door inserts, shift boot and red led's in the center console. If/when I reupholster the seats, I may put some red accenting, maybe even just stitching, but not a huge part of the fabric.

Question, how does Areospeed Headers hold up are they pretty good and same for your 3 inch exhaust.
I've seen their prices are cheap but wanted to ask first.

Damn, thats show up great on camera can you do mine..
Huh, you have the same Pioneer head unit as me. Tip : for pioneer add Infinity's for your dash, doors and rears. They sound awesome with the Pioneer headunit, It'll sound like you have subs,in your ride. I've had this same setup in my old Cutlass,

Thanks man. It takes time but anyone can do it. If you have any questions, need some tips, or anything, PM me anytime.
About the infinities....Wish i would of got em. I got powerbass in right now and they are...sub-par.
As for the headers, i love em and they give my car a nice mean growl. The only thing is that i have a bad front motor mount so i have a minor exhaust leak. Definetely recommend them.

Will do, thanks I've looking been thru Summitracing( live to close to it) and I've been deciding which setup is best overall.
Would your car pull hard quick launch from stop, without having a Turbo kit, by having that exhaust system.
I'm turboing mine with either a Star kit or a Hahn setup. I have a myspace and CI Motorsports has a myspace and thats where I've heard about Star and they have Nice 420a turbo'd with it.
I thinks a matter of taste I think about which Turbo Brand to go. JACKSON,STAR or HAHN. But, I've read up alot HAhn's Kit sounds good.
This mechanic suggested for me to buy a JACKSON turbo but His eyes got real big when I told him I'm gooing for a turbo kit from HAHNRACECRAFT.
Hahn broke alot of records with his kits.. But, if I was going for a 4g63 swap, which I've engine/tranny for 1300 new. I'll go for Ohio's best BushcurRacing... and Shep Transmissions...

98917, RE: Check it out!! Painted Interior Pics!! Posted by Slimyjr., May-11-07 08:23 AM
Yea alot of people on the board go with Hahn. Doesn't come with some of the good parts Star does like FMIC(can get one from Hahn for about $650) and Star comes with better fuel managment but the plus with Hahn is if you have a promblem, call up Hahn and their tech support will help you fix it.
P.S. Thank you DR1665 http://forums.2gnt.com/dcboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=8&topic_id=96054&mesg_id=96054&page=

Mm, I have seconds thoughts now about Hahn kits, thanks this helps.
I'm glad I found CI motorsports on myspace and they siad for me to give them a call for parts list. I just, might take them up on it.
I like their modded, 420a Eclipse on their main page its very sweet. Except for the bodykit, LOL...
Check 'em out
