98764, Tinted Tail Lights Results!
Posted by Shadow2877, Apr-28-07 10:57 AM
Hey guys,

Well I got my smoked tail lights from ebay the other day. I told myself I was going to wait to put them on after I get my new body and paint job but just coulnt help myself :P After I installed the left and right sides (which is all it came with)The middle piece was looking off, So busted out a can of black spray paint along with a clear coating paint aswell and went to work. I should have orginally sanded the middle down first and then painted it but since the middle piece will be painted white later on down the road I figured I would wait to sand it down.

Here are the results:

(Dont mind the bumper (Gotta love previous owners), Stock going back on soon!

Up Close

For a auto paint spray can it didnt turn out to bad at all, The paint even has a gloss effect to it to help match the car and lights an proctect it from the weather.

Hope you like it, least I do,
-Cody

Looks good. As for the bumper, I'm glad you're replacing it because that's one of the ugliest options out there

Oof, I hope you're replacing the kit with something that will make it look better, because those sides are just slapped on there and none of the kit actually flows with the car.

What part of TX are you riding in? :D

Grand Praire and Arlington mostly, My mom lives in downtown Fort Worth so you will see me over by the bass hall sometimes, and then I ocassionally will go down to the races at Reagle Row, in Dallas, but if you have watched NBC at all lately they have started to crack down on it over there.

As far as the body is concerned the body kit really doesnt look half bad on there, but yea its comming off soon. The owner befor me treated the car like a riced out honda, but for $1,990 I couldnt resist. Ive been working on performace rather then looks the past 6 months, but once I get a few more parts installed and get everything running right, the cars getting a compelte body make over.

Thanks guys,
-Cody

Oh wow, I didnt know I had someone on here, who lived so close to me. The only eclipse's ive seen around here are the riced out ones trying to match the honda's.

I dont think Ive ran into yours yet either. I currently am going to school at Bowie and also have a mechanic over on cooper that will be working on my baby this weekend.

Hope to run into you sometime soon (Not literally :P)

The tailights were smoked the only paint I used was on the middle piece and I clear coated that piece so that it would be resistant to heat and water.

The lights look great, but if I was you I'd have some good automotive grade clear sprayed on them soon. I got a set off Ebay awhile back and they looked perfect when I installed them, 3 months later the finish was peeling off. Better safe than sorry

Listen to what this guy said. The same thing happened to me. I tinted a set of cheap altezzas with nightshades and the lights looked really nice for a few weeks until the paint started fading. Slap on a good clearcoat just in case the guy who sold them to you didn't.

Yea good thinking,

I will coat them with the same spray I used for the middle piece to help pretect them.

Thanks,
-Cody
