My door handle broke yesterday and as I am disconnecting everything, the inside bolt that holds the handle would not budge. The handle came off, but the bolt is still on,and every time I try to put some pressure to get it off, the mental that hold the bolt bends. What would be the best way to get it because, I don't the metal to brake off that holds the bolt.
I was thinking of buying a propane bottle and heat the bolt would that make the bolt come off.

So in this picture the bolt and hole you are referring to is the one just above the key cylinder and below the pliers?

If so, then the threaded brass insert is what's keeping you from pulling it out. Try PB Blaster first with a good soaking then try again if you are able to hold the other side and thread them apart. Also maybe try a Dremel tool with a cut-off wheel?

Putting a torch in there sounds like an invite to ruin something else nearby.

DON'T DO THAT! the sheet metal is too thin to play with a torch something will warp, might just be that the new handle won't go in right, might end up in the door never closing properly. listen to Dave, he has sage advice on the door handles! might want to check out his no break kits while you have it all apart anyways

A little elbow grease and p.b blaster the bolt came off. I'm so glad the metal hinge did not brake off.

so what does keyless entry have to do with anything? unless you have door poppers aswell, the door could be unlocked, but you still cant open it, since the latch mechanism is still holding it down.

Yes, it is and i'm taking it easy with the handle and also,going to buy azdave's kit for bothside. Better safe than sorry.

How hard is it to fix the lock cylinder,what do I need to buy. I have the Haynes book on it.

I had to buy a new handle and I finished installing it, but when I look at the handle from the inside it has creases where the handle meets the door. What could I be doing wrong? can't seem to get the handle on with no creases. I am worried about when it rains, water will go in.

I try my best to warn people not to buy those sub $20 ebay handles. They are cheap copies of the already badly designed OEM handle. Whoever copied them even duplicated the stress-riser that cracks so often on the OEM handles. I guess they can sell more of theirs that way too.

I bought a set of the ebay handles just to confirm that they are weak and that my repair kit will fix them too. I noticed that the curve of the handle base does not fit the door very well. I assume that is the gap you are referring to?

You can either live with the gap (rain gets inside your door anyway) or caulk it somehow. If you still have you old handles you can repair them with my kit if you didn't throw out the broken bits.

So I bought a oem handle and I still get the gaps. What could be the problem.

If there is a way you can post a pic? That would help a bunch since I can't really know what you mean by a gap. I thought sure it was the cheap ebay handle. Are you sure the new one you bought this time was OEM? Was it from a dealer or another used car? Are you using the hard rubber gasket??

I just bought one of your handle kits.

What I mean a like when I put the handle on and I look on the inside of the door along the seams where the handle and the door meet, there are few liitle gaps where I can see the light going through.

The handle I have is a used oem handle from another Eclipse and I am using the oem gasket.

Without a pic I'm still just guessing but all I can figure now is that you are expecting a total seal around the handle and you aren't going to have that. It will never be waterproof around the handle but it should fit snug and flush.

The trim along the window is the same way. It diverts most water and debris from falling down into the door but is not meant to be a 100% seal.

That's why there's a big plastic sheet on the inside of your door panel, to prevent that water and debris from getting into the car, not to prevent it from getting into your door!

Oh ok thanks for telling me I always thought the handle was suppost to repel the water no matter what.

Since water does get in the door, will it rust the door?
