I was changing out my front bumper with a new two days ago.

While was losening the 10mm bolts on top in front the radiator,two of the bolts snap the head off. Their all rusted pretty bad. But my car is in excellent shape but bolts on or around the engine and suspension too. Bottom line there's allot of rust on them.

I'm the 3rd owner of my Eclipse GS, I have all the papers on my ride.
Only, thing I can say is that first the owners from New Mexico bought her off the showroom floor brand new she's listed at 21,950. So, I think while it was on the west coast before coming to me she sat and collected rust due to desert sand?

Thats why I'm asking anyone for help.


I need 10mm bolts for my 97 eclipse, in a bulk like box of a 100 or 50.

Is there an online suppler for these replacements.
Haven't gone to any local stores yet but I always have better luck here.

I bet you all have experienced breaking a head off a bolt while replacing a part. Due, to rusty bolts on a Dsm.


So, I'm deciding to replace them all.....

Have you guys replaced them when moddifing your own DSM

I just go to my local hardware store and get the same size bolts. Sometimes i need to order them cause they're metric but they are the same bolts and work fine for me.

im from the midwest and all mine were looking pretty nasty, I replaced all mine with stuff that the hardware store had, I just wrote down how many of each size I needed and brought in an example of each and the set me up perfect, it didnt cost very much at all ether

The size you actually need is 6mm by 1mm thread pitch, the 10mm is just the hex cap size, if you ask for 10mm you will get a bunch of oversized bolts

mine were 8mm, not 6.

Go to a junkyard and find an eclipse and pocket a bunch of the bolts haha.

Otherwise, hardware store and mcmaster are the best options.

pretty sure I got 6mm all around, might want to take one with you to the hardware store to be sure

Thanks a bunch guys, great job on your engines. I'll checkout mcmaster.com and my local hardware store too.

I have a Haynes book my DSM,I'll take it with when the store needs the size numbers.

8mm is right 6mm is too long, I went to Ace yesterday bought 10 of them they get the rest in next friday. Not bad 7 bucks for 16 bolts, 45 cents a piece. I bet their cheaper than this..

I'm fed up looking at my f'd up bumpper,right fender-head light and hood. I don't like women drivers, they're too careless.

I'll post before and after pics of my car when its done.

Too long? 6mm and 8mm refers to the width, not the length.

I have shit loads of the factory hardware from parted out cars. Just take a tally of how many you need and about how long and I can put together a pouch of bolts for you.
