It shouldn't affect your driveability any. Did the water soak through the carpet and stain it?

Hmm, Im pretty sure if it got to the metal, and RUSTED IT out, the least of his worries is the carpet. I think we have had posts of people with this problem before, that just cut the circumference of it and welded a piece of sheet metal, but I could be mistaken though.

If you do do this be careful and remember the gas tank is close.

And the reference to the carpet was to see if he noticed the carpet looking funny first, then maybe he could have prevented this thread.

This car sat at a friends house, out in the country, for almost a year. And with me not driving it for over 2.5 years, with a trunk leak....yeah, oops.
