I put in red LED's for my side lights, they look orangish because of the flash. I also painted the grey wiper motor cover, and wiper arms black, with Duplicolor Black Trim Paint. Pics of the latter tomorow morning.

Is it legal? I was pulled over before and informed that red is only legal for tail and brake lights.

A cop drove right past me last night when I was done putting on my bumper right as I was turning them on to see if I had plugged everything back in. I think he even liked them :7 . I still need to post the other part of the little "fix" I did.

Thanks I'll try. It's also illegal to not have a front license plate, or modify my exhaust system in any way, or tint my tails as dark as I did, or have the CAI that I have and possibly to have removed my CEL but that hasn't stopped me, but thanks for the warning dj, I really appreciate it.

Here's the pic of my painted wiper motor cover.

EDIT: Just dropped off my car to get painted. Now THAT should be an "upgrade" :7 . Guy said it should be done by wed-thur, left him my 2gb skirts and turbo wing to install. Can't wait! after that, I'll install the foglights, tint the windows and a while after FINALLY get my rims. Updates to be continued...

Trust me, your not getting a COMPLETE paint job for 1600. Let alone the wing and skirt install. Where you going, maaco?

Nope, but your right though, since im getting the same color im not repainting any of the inside, I also wasnt getting a $10,000 dollar paint job like the one they quoted me at Greenwalds. Also just because you may charge more for a "good" paint job doesnt mean that what I can afford will be total shit. This place was recommended to me by another 2gnter, Gyver, the guy whose cam gears are being sold by DR1665 on the FS section. I am sure that for what I payed I will be satisfied with their work.

Most of the time you are paying for what type of paint they use. Even Maaco doesn't do a bad job painting, but they use crap paint so it only lasts about 2 years or so. For $1600, it should last at least 3-5 years without worries.

the big problem with maaco is reallly the lack of prep, do all the prep work yourself (sanding, removing trim/lights, etc.) and their paint can last a good long time, they don't sand in the grooves or on edges, and they tape off on the trim instead of removing it. do the prep and pay for some extra clear and you can color sand and buff their paint jobs to looking like something better than the factory. also if you take care of it it can last as long as a more expensive paint job. I've done this on several old Jaguars with great results. you just gotta do the prep and finish work yourself, they won't

That really depends on which Maaco you go to. Some people do a good job while some don't.

HAHA! Tell me about it! I didnt think You'd still be keeping track of that man! Hehe, anywho I finally took the leap. My mom kept asking me: "Do you think its worth investing that much money into that car? It breaks down all the time!" I was like: "Mom... Its MY car, and MY money, plus, haven't I been able to get it running again everytime it breaks?" So she finally stayed quiet.

It is gona hurt the bank just a tad though...

Aww! but the steering wheel looks and FEELS so thin without the cover! My hands sweat a SHIT LOAD, and I cant get any grip on the stupid steering wheel!

Mc, I used Duplicolor (i think) Trip Paint, got it from Kragen's, for like $3.99, I only needed about half a can, I gave the rest to Destructeclipse to use on s GSX, we homiez like dat! :afro

Its dupicolor trim paint. (black) its made specicially for things like this. Ever pay attention to the black around the headlights of a 93-97 camaro? Its sprayed with an aerosol can by paint shops. Thats how I learned about it. You will need to respray it every 2-3 years, its normal.

Yea, will definetly get trigger crazy with my digi cam on friday when I pick it up. 3 more days, although, it will be ready thursday, I go to school at 8am and get out at 10pm (work there too) So I'll be restless that one extra day. Like I said along time ago to a friend, as long as my car is one solid color for once, I think I'll be satisfied.

On a side note, just got through a 3 hour chem test, and the thought of my freshly painted car kept me going, I had a smirk on my face the whole time. But chemistry is my bitch anyways... REAL MEN TITRATE LIGHT PINK!

I went and it wasn't done yet. I went in my mom's car, that needs body work, and told him that if I was satisfied I was going to bring her's in too. Then he got all excited and said I would be, and wrote me up an estimate for that one. Any who, I think all that was left on it was to put on the wing, the skirts & bumper and everything else was already done, and it looked damn good. I didn't go up to it too closely, well I just want to see it complete tomorrow, but it looks awesome from what I saw, specially with my tinted tails and side markers.

Did you ask for a container with your paint too Jesus? I'll ask him though. The car will be done tomorrow at noon.

Yea, I was thinking of doing that but I'm too much of a pusy to even risk fucking up the new paint! I saw a can of "temporary truck lining spray" I think at Kragens, its for like the front of new cars for long trips and such, supposed to protect it from the sand and rock chips at high speeds, I think Ill try that one first :7

Yea, I wll get that painted as soon as I can, thanks for the props guys :7. ScreminE... I got bad news, when they where remodeling where I live everything got sent to a storage, and my breaks disapeared, I think I am going to have to buy them again, and I'de love to get 'em from you again, if you got any I mean. Im fucking pissed, I cant believe I had those brakes sitting there for a year, and when I need 'em, I find out they are lost... Anywho, If you can hook me up with another pair, send me a PM, and I'll start saving for those again bro.

I know i was all worried about mine when i got it done... but right now im like eh.. heheh again dude congrats... i bet it feels awesome and youre driving all feeling like its a brand new car heheh

Yea, Ive wanted to leave the side mirrors black since I got the car, flows better with the trim and windows IMO. I got a water proof car cover from Destruckeclipse that I carry arround now, its NICE! I put it on where ever I park. The sprinklers on the side walk went off the other night, and now I got water droplet marks on the pass. side. I'ma go have it washed and detailed ASAP.

EDIT: been thinking about rims, and I changed my mind, I'm getting these (Kyowa 210, Exel Speed, or Rev 11)

I was all paranoid about my new paint when I got it, but now I don't give a shit anymore. Probably because I'm going to replace a lot of the sheet metal anyway... get it down to bare metal and start over. Painting yourself is fun!!! Scratches you make yourself down the road don't matter as much. I kind of accidentally dropped a 1/2" drive breaker bar on the fender... whoops!

Looking good though! Pink is different :whoa
98599, RE: A small upgrade. (UPDATE: PICS)
Posted by edxmon, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
lol wtf?! Its not pink, its red, the color looks orangeish in some pics and pinkish in others because of the angle/flash and such. Today when I get back home, Im painting and installing the foglight inserts, painting the black part in the center opening of the bumper, and cutting the "grill" Im making out of gutter guard. Ill probably cut two of every piece and paint one set black, to see which one looks better. Having that extra bumper is going to help alot on this task :thumbsup Im also getting the RMDSM lip.

Im painting that part I mention of the bumper with temporary truck liner (washes off with highpressure water guns) and been thinking of painting the bottom of the skirts and maybe the rear bumper. Even though the 2gb front sits lower than the 2ga it is still higher than the skirts. The lip should fix that, and the black trim going around should balance that black on the bumper. Just a cool idea :7

Thisk is kind of what I was thinking, minus painting the bottom of the front bumper (the lip will compensate for that)

The car looks good! Congratulations!

Just a word of warning on that trim paint though... I've used it before on metal surfaces (wiper arms), and even with all the prep work in the world, it would come right off after a few months of driving. I finally gave in and had them powder coated; it wasn't too much of a sacrifice for only $15 an arm.

I'd imagine the plastic cabin air inlet won't suffer too much, but keep an eye for degradation of the wiper arm finish.

engine paint and a couple hours in the oven works good, almost as hard as powdercoat
