97949, Lighted interior locks?

I was thinking about some cool things to do, and I had the idea of cutting out the boring red taped section on the locks and replacing it with some sort of clear plastic and lighting it with an LED. I'm new to cars in general, and I only know the basics, so I was wondering what you would use for the clear plastic and if it's even possible to wire an LED all the way near/in the lock. Let me know what you guys think.

This link should give you some ideas and helpful tips. I would dremel out the red part and mold a new clear insert in its place.

So basically you'd drimmel out the red part, use some sort of clay to make a mold, and then use that other stuff to make the foggy/clear part? Then you'd just wire an LED in there?

Maybe sand the top of an led off flat, drill out the spot and install that way?? Or a complete clear lighted lock peice would be nice and not that hard to make. I might try it out soon too. Or better yet, make complete clear lock peice, throw a small diamond star sticker on it, paint, remove sticker, install led....

Easier way: drill out the red spot, stick the peice in the clay molding stuff and just pour a couple drops of that casting resin to fill in the hole from the inside.
