97422, door adjustment issue. Posted by donnyb373, Dec-14-06 03:30 PM
ok, some of you know about my accident i had in July, well im done everything but adjusting the door, i spent 4 hours trying to get his thing to line up with the hinge in the door jam. is ther a trick to doing this?
whne i had the accident my fender pushed the door back and then the fire department poped the door open and pryed it out as far as they could to get my daughter out of the back seat. could i need a new door? maybe the whole door is uneven or somthing...could them prying it open fuck the hinges up?
thankss guys for any input.
edit: I forgot to mention, when i make and ajust ment then opn the door the door falls about 1/2 ince downward and i have to lift it to close it, this happens no matter how much i adjust it.

Have you tried moving the latch thing on the body? It doesn't move much but it might help.

Open the door all the way and put a jack under it then tighten them bolts up, just remembered I had to do that to my other car and that worked for me.

You could only need Door hinges.

My guess is the metal on the door frame is bent or the hanges are damaged.

I just did this and I'm not gonna lie, it's a bitch. I used a jack under the door and raised it about a 1/2 inch above where it would actually close, then tightened the hinges, becuase as you stated, it drops. Then I just messed with the piece in the door jam for about an hour until I finally got it to close nicely. My door is a little fucked up, too.
