Ok so I was looking at pulling out my cluster and I am having problems right away. First you take off the the screws holding the cover around the cluster in. but one of them is stripped. so is there any tips to getting it out w/o doing to much damage to this part becasue the screws are sank into it.

Are we still talking about the screws that hold the bezel on? or the ones that actually fasten the cluster? I have never heard of THESE screws stripping, but try putting a little (good amount :P )pressure on it as you turn it with the screwdriver.

If that ^ doesn't work, try getting something to pull at the screw while you turn it. A knife to pry underneath or something.

a trick that i use in surgery when a screw gets striped is to put a piece of Aluminium foil on the tip of the screw and then press the screwdriver gently in.
then put pressure on it and try and back it out.

the foil is usually enough to take the shape of the space between the rounded portions and the driver.

its the screws that hold the bezel in and is not the head of the screw its the threading of it. im going to try getting lik a knife and slam behind it and pry it out i jus dont want to wreck the plastic

well if my memory and logic serves me right the screws that hold the bezel go into one of those "plastic screw receiveing" thingy majigy, so its PRETTY unlikely that its the SCREW threading that is striped rather than the "plastic receiver" thingy.

hmm avoid the trouble they're easy to come by rip the fucker off and replace it =) haha easy solution. If i had one laying around I'd say you could have it, they're not hard to find.

yup . you should be able to take a little screw driver and pry the screw out .

you would be amazed at how easy a titanium screw can get stripped.
especially when i have idiot residents going "hmmmm i can make that a little tighter"

although id go with ripping it out then find a new one :P
most things with these eclipses generally end up like that anyway
