i just bought a 1996 eclipse and the interior lights dont come on when i open the door what will i have to do to get them to go on when i open the door.

Make sure the bulbs ARE there, if they are there make sure they are not burnt out, if they are burnt replace them. Now, maybe the switch in the door is shot, if the switch is stuck in, then it "thinks" the door is always closed. Check the relays by the pedals :shrug

Just check the fuses and check the bulbs.

Bulbs:

If you open your door and look near the fuse box, you should see a dome bulb. Just pull it out and it comes out. There's also one on the passenger side. All you have to do is get down a bit to see them. They're pretty tiny, about the size of a peanut. They use the same bulb number, and they can be had at Autozone for 2-4 dollars a pair.

Fuse box:

Located near the dead plate on the driver side. Check your manual for proper location.

i hope its not as simple as the bulbs for you to be making a thread, I know i had some issues with the rubber boot on my drivers door switch catching sometimes, also when i put the lambo doors on my car i unplugged them to keep it from draining the battery when they were open. On my beater, I had some body work done from it being wrecked in the rear and after they put on a new rear quarter the passenger side didn't work the switch. Best bet would be check the fuses and those connections.

before replacing anything, the cheapest, easiest, laziest troubleshooting step is to reach down and jiggle the switch. if it makes a connection they'll light up.

if not the bulbs go to machv.com and get the door switch, its like 9 dollars under OEM maintenance. Mine did the same shit, believe me..its worth 9 dollars.
