96616, Turbo wing installation...
Posted by edxmon, Sep-23-06 09:06 PM
well i got a turbo wing froma member a few months back (if you guys remember his engine compartment caught fire) well all he sant was the actuall wing. it was 3 holes on each side (on the bottom). So my qstion is how in the world to the attach it to the trunk? i would have thought the screws would have petruded from the bases of the wing, so then you just drill the holes on the hatch and fasten it frm the inside. I just want to know cuz as soon as my financial aid money comes in, ill be installing skirts, thw wing and a paint job. it just bugged me that i couldnt make sence of it.

Did you get some type of gasket with your wing? When I bought my wing, it came with a gasket. The gasket had three holes, like the bottom of the acutal wing. I placed the gasket and the wing the way I wanted, then took the wing off and drilled where the holes were on the gasket.

Someone on here has a pic with dimensions on where to drill the holes for the wing. I have seen it a million times, so I'm sure someone will post it again.

yea it has the gaskets attached to the bases of the wing, my qstion was tho : HOW WILL IT BE ATTACHED? the wing has the gasket, that has three holes, and those 3 holes are already drilled on the bottom of each side of the wing. i will have it installed by a shop. So i guess what im getting at is: will they have to drill a hole from my trunk TO the wing with screws bigger than the existing holes so they grab?

The wing should of had threaded metal nuts fiberglass into the wing. The wing you have must of had them broken out.

Yeah mine also has threaded holes and was screwed in from the bottom. It only has 4 total holes though, two on each side.
