whats the easiest way to get the clear plastic cover off of the headlights? i heard of preheating the oven and letting the headlights bake for a few minutes but i wasnt sure what the setting was and how long to bake em up for, i dont wanna be melting my headlights or angel eye halo ring things...

i tried searching but couldnt find it.

anyone know the answer?

i do 250 for about 8 min . remember to take the bulbs out . also remember to turn the oven off after its preheated . then put them in

and the top piece will seperate right away?

it will be easy to pry right open . use a butter knife or somethig like that to start it . then pry the rest with your hand . also take off the metal clips b4 putting it in the oven . to put them back together push it on as tight as you can then repeat the oven process and push tight when u take them out again reinstall the metal clips an your done

Don't delete it it's good information, I'm going to be using this as well.

I did a set of OEM 95-96 headlights w/o heating them up just used a flathead, it took some time to work them off but it didn't break anything, I was more afraid of melting them in the oven, but I have heard from friends that that will work, I'm just saying it CAN be done the other way, if you are patient, which I am not. Oven is always the way to go, just make sure not to roast them haha!

What you should do is this: Preheat oven at 250 for 5 minutes, then turn off oven before putting in headlight. Put headlight in there for 5 minutes, then remove and pry open. I don't like leaving the headlights in there while the oven is on, but that's just me.

Ive done several sets of headlights in the oven. I preheated it to 250, then put them in for about 2/3 minutes. Then just pry apart with a butter knife. Then kinda stick them together, put them in the oven for another 2/3 minutes, push them together again as much as possible, install metal clips, and your done. Easy as pie bro. Dont leave them in there for longer than 4/5 though. I clear housing will begin losing form after that.
