I'm in the process of painting my whole interior. I've already painted my dash and I'm about to paint my trunk. However, I've searched the internet and forums, including this one, looking for a "how to" or advice on removing the panels in the trunk, but had no luck. I'm sure people have done this before, so I'm asking if you could help me out and tell me how exactly you remove all the trim pieces in the trunk of a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS.

unscrew and pop the clips? the middle rear is usually pretty tight the first time off, but its pretty straight forward, theres a couple screws under the back rest of the rear seats, around the floor board under the false floor and pop.

Thanks for the reply. I'll probably poke around the trunk and look for screws. I just didn't want to break anything in the process. So what you're saying is that it's possible to remove all the trim in the trunk and get them painted? You just have to remove the center trim, the floor board, and go from there?

Yea...It is pretty simple. As soon as you get the center piece to come off, everything will come out pretty easy. Pop it off from the bottom first and then you'll have to lift it upwards to pop the clips that hold it from the top.

Buy the Haynes Manuel at an autoparts store its less than 20 bucks.

It has everything you need to remove the whole interior front to back nad complete tear down/ for the engine from 420a,turbo etc.

the book is for 1995 to 1999 laser,talon and eclipse.

Just buy the book it helps out alot?

You have to pull pretty hard. They are not meant to come off. Sometimes the clips break and there's really nothing you can do about it.

Dude, buy the Haynes manuel for 1995 to 1999 eclipse, laser and talon.

There's a 95-99 Laser?!? Where can I buy one? That'd be pretty sweet IMO!

Also, while you are in the trunk anyways, take the time to either build a brace for under the spare tire cover or reinforce it with fiberglass or both (like I did), I split my rear center piece because the cover cracked and I was unable to remove either piece without breaking them both :( . I'll take pics later if you want them.
