Has anyone put LED lights in their vents so that at night they glow? I'm just wondering what LEDs you used and how did you mount them in the vents. The only reason I ask is because I am considering doing this, just wanted some suggestion, thanks.

I didn't, a friend did.
Put them on a board.
Velcrow/3m double sided tape to mount them.

I didn't want a suggestion as to should I do it, but how should I do it. But thanks anyway. I know if it doesn't make it go faster then it shouldn't be on there, but I'm not building a race car, and until I turbo this thing it's a dog.

You asked for suggestions, that was mine. the ambient lighting isnt worth it; I know because I had it in mine, infact its rather distracting. Just a lil heads up.

I don't get the appeal of lighting up my vents. It would just show a whole lot of dust that I can't reach to clean out. Now what would be really sweet, is sticking some gauges in there.. crazy sleeper style. There is a guy selling digital LED gauges on here right now that would work perfect ;)

Even though i'm the only one told him how to do it.
I have to agree, Abiant lighting in the interior is illegal where i'm from, for the fact that is destracting. Don't know if the same goes for you. Leave your vents alone as far as that goes, save your money.

save your money.
couldn't cost that much, it's LED's for cryin' out loud, if you're going show then do it, but have it on a switch so you don't have to drive around like that all the time, I could see that gettin awful annoying awful quick. Interior lighting in a show car, when done properly, can look pretty sick (that is a stupid phrase, isn't it) bit it can also get real tastless, real quick. Start going to shows and checking out pics on the internet to see what you like, you'll figure it out.
EDIT: F#$%ered up my font, to lazy to change it, sorry

Thanks for the oponions on wether I should do it or not... And yes, I am showing my car - that being the reasons for the lighting. But thanks for the help once again everyone.

Vatozone sells, on their ricer aisle, premade packages of three small LEDs in a number of colors, for something like $5. You tap into a switched power source if you do not wish to have a separate switch for them, and then they come on when you activate that switch.
These kits don't give you much slack to play with, so all three LEDs will need to be relatively close together, but I'm pretty sure you could just pull the trim around the radio, drop the HVAC without disconnecting it, and punch a couple small holes in the bottoms of the center vents to stick the LEDs through from the bottom. Tap into switched 12vdc at the lighter like everyone else and, when you turned on your parking lights, the center vents would light up.

Or there's a little light that lights up the ash tray that is pretty much pointless. You can use that as a power source as well. Otherwise, DR's got the idea of what you need to do.

Ok guys, thanks for the help, I'll be posting some pics when it's all done... it'll hopefully finish out the theme... Right now I have 2 neon bars under the seats, and for my sub box I have 2 80MM computer case fans that have 4 LEDs in each of them, so that I get a red glowing effect from the cut out in the box. I've got a show this Sunday, so I appreciate all the help and suggestions.
