95616, Stillen front bumper
Posted by MattitudeV1, Jul-13-06 04:32 PM
Got in an accident today and my front bumper cover is junk. Was thinking of replacing with a stillen front bumper.

Those of you that have one, does the stillen require removing or trimming the bumper support? I do not want to remove that. I do not have a FMIC.

Also, are the holes pre-cut or does it require cutting holes into the bumper?

Last, I have a grillcraft grill kit. Does anyone know if this will fit on a stillen?

1. no you can leave the bumper support

2. no holes are pre drilled

3. you can make it fit if you really want to

The stillen is actually made with the bumper support in mind. I acually ordered a new bumper support before installing mine.

Crazy if you read this, did you have to cut your bumper a lot for the star FMIC I had to cut quite a bit and when I look at it close I get pissed b/c I didn't do it perfectly.

To the OP the stillen is a good choice. The only holes pre drilled are the ones on the top where the bumper bolts in under the hood I think, they may just be marked but not drilled. All the other holes are noticeably marked, but they do not pre drill so that you can get a better fitment. It is a good choice, b/c of the quality and being polyurethane it won't crack like most kits. When you install you can get away with putting on quite a few less bolts than are on the stocker too which makes removal easier in the future.

I ordered a Stillen. Plan to drill the holes first, then get it painted.

I've heard from a body shop guy that when installing a body kit or bumper, it's best to install it not real tight, then take the car for a spin and take some hard turns to wear in the kit, then re-tighten all the screws. Is this true?

The bumper was cut just a little since the lower pope you actually see sticks out more than planned, thats the only thing that was cut. Besides that, that middle piece across the the middle opening was thought to be cut but decided not to since it looked to have been the main support for the bumper, thicker than the rest I think. It was like 2 years ago when I put this on so excuse my retardism.
