95535, Tan to black conversion picturefest, 56K get a sammich Posted by Malenko, Jul-10-06 11:49 AM
ok so I dont exactly have alot *cough* ONE *cough* before pix, honestly I hated the tan interior of my car, hated it since I got it, spend the WHOLE weekend makin it something I liked alot better. best/only before one I have that I can find:

All black with LEATHER interior
here are the pix of before the black seat belts and no seats installed:

I removed the tan seat belts and installed the black ones (even tightend the bolts to Dino torque specs, and the leather seats are in and are comfy as a cloud, till the sun heats them up, lol

One flaw with the door skins I bought is no speaker grill for the front.

Thanks to 2gnt, dsmtuners, and 3fastperformance.com for image hosting. All feedback is appriciated.

Seat belts, door skins, both front seats, and all 3 pieces of the back seat are factory black leather from a 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 10th Anniversary Edition , I even have the limited edition cluster with factory silver gauges (with 55K on the odometer). Everything else, carpet, panels, headliner, etc was all meticulously redone with Duplicolor flat black. The floor mats are aftermarket ones that look completely stock.

Looks like you were leaning up against the backseats a little too much. they are like bent towards the rear of the car :P
Looks really good. Do you have any pictures of say the front dash. where it meets up with the factory black. Just want to see if you can really tell it's canned or not.

Looks damn good!! And I hear ya on the black leather seats...they're real nice when they haven't been baking in the sun. There have been too many days when I sit down and instantly look like this ---> :eek :wallbash

I dont have the inner two bolts, cause my seat took 2 and these seats take 4, so just the outter bolts are installed, so the back seat can be leaned on but not folded foward.
The last picture is a pretty good shot of where the tan used to be but is now black meeting factory black. I can take another shot tomorrow if youre lucky.

I like how in the first picture you have that sticker on your back bumper. :P
Thanks. I got hooked up with seats, doorpanels, kick panels, doorframe things too. I am tempted to do everything else but just want to make sure it will be worth the time. :)

the dynamat was to cover up the dealership sticker that peeled the paint.
this pic of the blackedout tails:

you can see where I removed the dynamat and the dealer sticker is still there sucking away. I'll get it repainted, eventually.

Looks like my car...but more complete.
You know, looking back, I would prefer a clean tan leather interior over the OEM black.
But I already have this stuff, so I'm sticking with it.

The all-black interior looks really sweet but I could not live with it here in AZ. I've measured surface temps on black seats at over 170F in a closed car.
You've seen "Arizona Driving Gloves", right?.

Yeah. It sucks here in the summer time too. I usually drive to work around 4:30p.m. everyday with heats in the hundreds at times. Sweaty back and all :(

I liked tan but the new black looks great too! Anything beats the boring gray I'm stuck with.

that looks great, I like the tinted taillights, did you use a spray tint? If so where did you get it?

It's as black as you want. I used 3 coats for my side markers.
Hey malenko, you are doing your center right?
