Not sure if this is already out there but I have a question. Has anyone installed a dual pillar pod? I need to put in another gauge holder somewhere because my vacuum/boost line is being clamped shut with it being in the pod around the cluster. So I was thinking about putting a dual pillar pod up and putting it in there but I have a 5" monster tach resting against my pillar in that corner. My question is will I have to move my shift tach to put in this pod or can I just put the pillar pod on over the existing pod? I have not bought a pod yet, I just started looking. Any help would be very much appreciated.

uhhh why do you have a monster tach in the first place? There is no excuse to have one, since all of our cars - even the autos! - have a tach from the factory, you'd have to be blind not to be able to read it, and if its broken, there is only a couple wires running to it that could possibly be messed up.

Ok first off dick, leave me alone about my tach. I put it in there because my car didn't come with a tach (RS-T) and I felt like putting one in there. If you have a problem with it then get over it. Now some actually advice would be nice. But if you are going to knock on my C2 shit then I suggest you keep your belittling comments to yourself.

yes I will knock on your C2 shit since not only did you get a monster tach, you got a really expensive one, when you could have gotten a factory cluster for like... way less.

I have my dual pillar pod and I don't like it. I'm taking it out as soon as I can find a stock A pillar that doesn't have a bunch of holes hacked in it from a stupid gauge pod. I'd rather have my gauges where the police can't see them.

I actally got all of my C2 stuff pretty cheap since I have a friend who vends for them. I get the whole hiding your guages from the cops. I was thinking about doing a custom holder right on top of the dash, just a dual pod for the boost and the fuel pressure gauges. I mean I don't need to do anything if someone could tell me how they mounted their boost gauge. Cause I have the holder, like I said that goes around the cluster and the boost/vacuum lines just gets pinched when the gauge is all the way in. It looks like it is hitting the tip of the cluster cover.I was thinking about closing a vent but to me that doesn't look that good at all. Any ideas??

You can get the vent pods already made I think. I wouldn't put my boost gauge over there, too hard to see and way too hard to run the line there, I'd probably get a pod to put it on top of the steering column. With electrical gauges, it would be easy to do it, since there is only 3-4 wires going to the gauge instead of a big hard line, but putting a few holes in my dash is a serious commitment I don't want to make yet haha..

Yea I hear you with the holes in the dash. I guess if I am going to do this that I might as well do it the way I want it the first time. I guess I will custom somthing over to the right side of the dash facing me. Now I have to see how much this is going to run me. Not to sure how I am going to run wires into the middle of my dash either.

get a hole saw and do away with your cig lighter and there ya go insta-gauge.

A dremel and a bit of time can yeild the same results, apparently with the same guage too lol



note: no longer have te AFC or silver paint there.....hell I dont I have that head unit anymore

i thought all eclipses have a tach . everyone rs i ever seen has one including mine .

thought so too but i do remember someone a while back saying they didnt have one, anyone got any pics? interested to see it myself.

There was a thread about the tachless rs a longgggggg time ago...I saw a picture of one...it looks freaking weird as hell

It's not an RS that is tackless, there is another trim level below that called "Base" or something. Also doesn't have any badging on the rear for trim level (RS, GS, etc.)

some come with 8k and others with 9k as well i believe.

The Auto redline is 6500 rpm I think and the Manual redline is 7000, not 8 or 9 thousand. I think he is talking about the number the gauges go up to, not redline.

Yes there was a BASE trim eclipse, Instead of a tach there was just a piece of black plastic there.

Also The MTx goes up to 9k with a 7200 redline, ATX goes to 8K with a 6500 redline.

I believe the BASE eclipse was only available in 1995. never have seen one of them myself

Is the rev limiter set the same in Auto as it is in the MTX?

nope i helped another member install a hahn stage one in his 96 base model.

For what its worth you can install the cluster with a tch ito the base model. you dont have to install a monster tach.

i belive the 97-99 had the base model too dunno if it had a tach or not, but i know it doesnt have a rear defroster, spoiler, and has hubcaps.

yes there was something called a base model i owned one (i know i know say it now) the only options it had was ac lol no rear deforster, rear anything for that matter, no power anything, just a motor and frame really and there was no tach but dont' have a pic sorry.
