94296, question about base coats? painters, get in here!

okay as most of you know, the widebody is going under construction again this weekend for some new features and a new color (horray)!

anywho, the color i picked out is a little brighter than what i planned. (i sprayed a sample of it on a piece of plastic).

now i sprayed it with a white base, but my question is, how much darker do you think it would be with a silver base?

i dont wanna spend another $40 for a quart of silver base to just "test" it and then not use it ya know.

so if anyone out there knows anything along these lines, please post.

i cant imagine it being a shitload darker, but i need it to go a little darker, and no, more coats of color wont help me here, lol.

kind of depends on the topcoat you chose. is it a candy, or is it just highly metallic? it would really help to know the topcoat color before anyone could give advice on how to make that topcoat darker. if it's a pretty transparent color obviously the darker the base the darker the topcoat will be.
