what im looking for are some tips on what i should do before i put the skirts/doorcaps on and what some of you guys did that worked out well. ive had these things in my garage for about a year and its time that the damn things get put on! are all of the plastic push pin things needed or can you just use the bolts on the bottom? thanks.

you must use some sort of attachment at the plastic push mounts. Now the shop that installed my factory set (before i bought the car) used double sided tape from autobody shops. This worked extremely well, i had no idea thats how they installed them.

Now after my little fender bender, i had to replace them and yup, the tape hold very securly once again, i didnt have to drill the holes for the plastic snaps.

The key to this method is prep. Use plenty of rubbing alcohal to clean the mounts areas of the ground effects and the body. Buy the doublesided tape from an autobody supply. Dont use the cheap shit.

You will have to drill holes in the underside and use sheet metal screws to attach the bottom side, which sucks. Also to make things fit tighter, mine had 1 1/8" pop rivet in the lip of the rear wheel well to hold the top rear of the ground effect tight on the body.

I drilled the holes in my RS before I attached the factory side air dams. It was about 8 holes on the lower quarter and side panels, and one on the fender (each side, not including the door caps, if you want those too its like 6-7 holes each) I don't remember the size of the drill bit I used, but I made sure that it was smaller than the clip.(Which you pick up from the dealer cuz its better when they're new). Then you use the double sided tape in the little slits that the skirts have running horizontaly along the tops. As far as the drilling process, be careful and use a stencil or some kind of system to ensure that they line up properly. If you don't think you can drill the holes right, then you are better off using just the tape, but like the last respnse said, prep right.

im about to install mine too, is ther any big store chain that carrys the tape shit?

Any autobody supply shop. a roll is usually 20.00 but it will do 3 sets of sideskirts. I like having the extra material for ather aspects like badges ect.

I just did mine and I must say. Get GOOD TAPE.

I bought this big roll of 7.8" tape from a local bodyman and this is what makes or breaks it. I bought some little clips from napa for like 45 cents ea. You need 16 total (my skirts were from a 96 so that might change :shrug )

But after clipping them all in, I had a flat surface to put the tape on. I installed the small front piece first with the existing hole for the one screw thats in your front fender already and the 3 taped spots. The I set the large skirt piece in place and started drilling out the holes along the very bottom.

The dkirt was held in place by only the tape for this time and was fitting great. I then, as Terry said, used rivets all along the bottom and one in the rear wheelwell for safety. :thumbsup

Yeah get some narrow 3M Acryllic+ Side Moulding Tape (this is what is used OEM) from any bodyshop supply store (if you don't know of one in your area, go to a bodyshop and ask them where one is).

I used the snaps plus the tape when I put on my skirts. The quick way to do the snaps is use some sort of paste (like some toothpaste, or silicon will work very well) and put the snaps in your skirt (with a dab of something at the end of them), then line it up and press it against your car, then you should have all your holes marked (you may need a friend to help with this).
