93692, To those who painted their bumpers themselves Posted by bokchoi, Apr-18-06 05:53 PM
Hey, I'm planning on purchasing one of those ebay 97-99 bumpers and painting it myself. For those who've done it themselves, how should I prep up for the job? I know it would not compare to the body shops but I'm kind of tight on my budget and am willing to give it a shot at it myself. Any recommendations on where I can purchase the cans of paint? How many cans (paint and clear coat)? Thanks

Thanks for posting the whole process. I have been wondering the same thing for a long time but never asked cause I know everyone was going to reply to search. How much should a pint of primer, paint, and clear run you and where is the best place to buy them?

Price also depends largely on color. I still think that you could get everything you need for well under a hundred dollars, though. One thing to mention is they dont print directions on the paint can so be sure to pick up the paint info sheets at the paint supply jobber. Try to find ppg if you can. It's very easy to use and is a perfect choice for a beginner like yourself ;)
