Well I was lookin through some of the things that others have done with the center section of the tail lights and had a thought. I've seen the color matched, clear (alteezas), and different turbo and DS logos done but i wanted to do something I've never seen anyone else do. So I decided to do a cut out DS and I'm pretty pleased with the results. The color is a bit off as shown in pics( :( ) but the finish will be great and the entire car needs a lot of TLC on exterior so it will end up matching later.:-) Anyway, let me know what you guys think of the idea.

Removed, did cut out, and preped for primer.......

Primed then painted

Removed cut-outs and cleared

And against the car(yea color's off but pic makes it look worse than it is and car will match after new paint job :+ )


And all that was done "weekend warrior" style!:thumbsup

EDIT: Will post pics with it on car after clear sets enough to handle and not jack it up.

I'm not sure what I think yet but I can always redo it another way. So, thanks again for all those that have posted what they did, they have been a great help with my ideas!

good job. pass on the details of how you got the center section lens off the housing. I'm doing something different (lighting up the center section) and having a helluva time trying to get the glue off. If I bake this thing any hotter I know it'll melt.

Required tools for removal:
-Screwdriver
-Strength applied sparingly
-LOTS of patience
End list.

EDIT: Just went and got some LED's to put in center section and will be doing that sometime this week. I figure it must be a good idea if everyone is suggesting it. :bowdown Will keep everyone informed......

uh..the guy admitted that the color was off. and whats "overkill" about his idea? he wanted to do something different..he did..and its actually quite a tastefully done mod that pretty much everyone in this thread was open to. its also rather subtle yet catchy...alot more subtle than say..puttin on a big ol blingin DS :shrug

lol my thoughts exactly.. I love this mod, and I think it would look so tight to see that logo lit up at night.

Well here you go, for all those that were telling me to light it up, I salute you. It turned out a lot better than I thought it would although I did end up going with 2 three inch neons instead of the LEDs, they didnt look right so i tried something else and loved what I got. Here's the pics let me know what you guys think now that its lit.

Truthfully, the pictures don't do it justice. It's definately very subtle, but it's a nice touch. You can see it at night from ~20 feet away and know exactly what it is.

Hey guys, thanks for all the props on the mod. I just put some clear tails in with that center section (courtesy of freelancefool & dsmkel). I'm still not sure of what i think yet and cant post pics with the new tails since i forgot my camera at my g/f's so as soon as i get it back i will post pics. Thanks again all! :thumbsup :cheers

Ok, I finaly got my cam back (yea I know) and just snapped some pics of the clear tails. I realize I'm kinda bringin this post back from the dead but I did say I'd post pics so here they are.......



well, they have kinda grown on me and I've gotten plenty of compliments so they're staying......atleast for a while. Still got my stockers so they can go back in when I get tired of these.

yeah man for sure that is one of the first things i did expcept i had the eclipse sticker/trim letters on the center light, i painted over them then tore off the cover sanded the back of the red cover so light could get throug then dropped in some led lights and presto when my running lights are on every one knows whats in fornt of them at night.

just the other day i saw an eclipse driving by with the 'ECLIPSE' letters cut out and lit up, and it reminded me of this thread.

Also those neons on your rear hatch cover (Red of course) are WEAK!
