All my interior was redone. It was all GS tan new, but all the plastic trim and pieces were painted and the carpet was replaced and the upholstery was stripped and vynal took its place... Here's a few pics if I can get them up. My digital camera sucks with red colors so they look redish orange :-( but you get the jist of it...
Also, go to a junkyard find an eclipse with black interior or whatever color(if its a color they made) and strip the car of everything you can get, dash, console, etc....
Also, when you paint anything plastic, good rule of thumb is always sand it with a fine grit sandpaper, then primer it good, then spray your apint, then I like to go over it was a sealer or clearcoat, whatever look your looking for, the people that painted my interior just sprayed on paint and its chipping off in high use areas... So one of my next projects(after all the damn engine quirks and tuning) is to resray all the painted plastic... right this time... -- Brad Rickard 98 GS HRC Stage V (nuff said)

Your paint will only last as long as your prep work - just make sure you clean the plastic real good before and after sanding. Sand in a rotational movement. You will need a primer that will fill the sandpaper scratches and promote strong adhesiveness. Put about 3 coats of laquer then 2 coats of clear coat. San Diego has the best weather to paint outdoors. Books can help, charge the library.

Ummm, I won't post pics to the list, but give me 2 weeks or so and I'll whip up a website for my car... I am rather busy with work and school but I'll make an effort to sit down one night and bust out a decent website for you all.
Anyone have a server I can have like 10 meg on? MAby a weee bit more if I decide to bust out the digital camcorder.. I want to get some good racing footage, burnouts, etc but I don't know if I will have the time for awhile... -- Brad Rickard 98 GS HRC Stage V (nuff said)

I found the trick recently. Get some old boards or something and sit them out in the sun. Now, in a vented, non windy area, sand the plastic down with fine sand paper and blow off the dust. After you rough it up and smooth it out, wipe it with a wet towel. Dry it perfect. now, spray color on lightly until the color is solid. After you have the color looking even and how you want it, clear coat the hell out of it. I probably sprayed about 3-4 nice coats of clear. I need to re-do my older pieces now that I have the technique down better.

I have been looking into this alot lately. Use SEM's interior paint. Wash it realy good two or more times using soap you are trying to get silicon off of the part/s you are painting. I am hoping to start doing my entire dash, either gloss black or white with red inserts, this weekend. I will post how it goes, but will not have any pics.

ok....i have another question. where do i get all this paint. do i need to get it at pepboys or autozone, or can i get it at a hardware store. i got vinyl paint for about $5 per can. someone on this post said something about lacquer paint. whats best. also, how long should i let the stuff dry. i dont want to drive around without all my panels on. i dont want to spend an arm and a leg, but i want it to look great and last a while. let me know what yall think.... i hope to do all this stuff this weekend. thanx in advance!!!

use enamal on the plastic and vinyl/fabric paint on the vinyl. the most important thing is to make sure it's really clean, you don't want any armoral or anything, because it will make the paint bubble up.

Well I did my dash this weekend. I got some pics and will post them once I get them back and scanned. The only problem is that the paint scratches of farly easily. I do not reccomend anybody attempts this unless they are good at taking interiors apart and have a day to do it. It took me aroung 3-4 hrs just to take it out and put it back in. I now have a black car with a bright white dash and red inserts :) the rest is getting done over winter with everything else.
