92805, Side mirror replacement Posted by Erik, Mar-07-06 10:09 AM
I guess this is a little FYI if anybody has to do it. I didn't find much in the search. My sister F'ed up a side mirror somehow and I got one out of a yard from an avenger cheap. Take off the mirror held by the three 8mm nuts. Unplug the power part if you have power mirrors. There was a #2 philips screw holding the plastic. Once you get it off the car, pull back the foam to reveal three #20 Torx screws. Unscrew them and tilt the actual mirror towards the left. You should see two small silver prongs behind the mirror. If you have a good pair of long needle nose, squeeze them together and pull slightly towards to you. If they spread apart further, then the clip is loose, and pull gently on the mirror to get it off. Put the new mirror on with the clip loose. You'll see how the retainer clip works when you get the mirror out. It is tricky to get the retainer clip to hook, but it can be done. Once you get it together, pull on the mirror to be sure that it is secure. Line up the holes and screw the three torx down. From here, it's just like before, but in reverse. If I didn't expain something clearly, feel free to correct it. BTW I did this instead of having to repaint the junkyard mirror to match the car. Saved time and money.
