can you take off that heat shield that is attached to the underhood? or dose it make the hood hot as hell?

The heat could discolor the paint or cause the paint to peel. Did you think the factory paid to put it there for no reason?

keep it on. i need to find a replacement for mine. i had some critter crawl up under my hood adn chewed through a few wires..and also decided to demolish my shield. i drive about 40 min to school every day. it was raining and i noticed that the water was turning to steam a lil when it hit my hood. no discoloration or peeling yet..but deff dont take it off. it DOES get hot lol

There is a reason why it's called a heat shield; keep it on.

I thought it was some sort of fire blanket that falls over the engine.

Don't remove it.

My heat shield seems in tact for the most part, but I also get steam when it rains, but no noticeable damage to the paint yet. :shrug

i had mine off for a year or so because some of the clips fell out and it was resting on the engine. nothing ever happened to my hood though. it may just be a sound dampener
