Well, I'm a cheapo and I've decided to rid my wheels of this awful clear coat pealing look. I'll be painting them gunmetal, however I'm not sure how light or dark at the moment. Yes, I'll be prepping them properly. Granted my adobe photoshop skills are decent, I've compared the two rims, what do you think?

Now, should I paint the rim like this, or should I include the areas underneath it? The areas with those little screw looking things. Excluding the lip which will be polished.

Hell, do you guys even think I should paint them gunmetal, what other color would you recommend on my car?

Before you tell me to photoshop my car with different colored rims on it, I'm currently indulging myself with a school paper and was just taking a quick break, lol.

your concept there looks good IMO, maybe a lil darker so that the polished lip stands out some more? i love cars that have dark colored rims and a polished lips (the ones that look good and not rice). ive even considered painting the lips red of the MR7s ima get. a lil more to accent my red and balck theme. anyways looks good, but consider my suggestion :thumbsup

Yes, a dark gunmetal color would look great. And also yes, you should JUST paint the spokes. Make sure you post up some pics when your done!

yo customGS ur rims are awesome, i know they are some form of stock ones, but which? those are probably the only bi-colored rims i would get on my car. if EVER u wanna sell those (altho i think u just painted them no?) just send me a PM!

Those are 97-99 GSX rims. They are also found on some 3G Eclipse GTs.

... I actually, wanted to trade my current wheels with tires for some... still do.

really? while i do like the gsx rims..those ones on yours are pure sex imo. iv loved those on a 2g ever since the first time i saw em.

oh and FWIW, the "screw thingies" are simulation bead locks.

If you ever come across any, trade ya? lol. I love the way BlackMagic & CustomGS's cars looks like with them on. Brand new on ebay, they're $300 plus shipping. :-o I wish I could find some dumb blonde around here who owns a 3G and trade 'em out.

Yeah, they're TOO thin, and the width of the tire is smaller than factory. I bought the car with them on and had to replace them in order to pass inspection because they were pretty bald. At the time, I knew nothing about tire sizes, so I told them to replace the tires with the same ones. 205/40/17 I want to go with a 215/45/17 tire this time around if I decide to keep the rims.

Thanks man, I've had them done for 3 years now daily driven. You dont even want to know how i got them. ( yes a dumb girl is involved ) thanks for compliments though guys. I am getting new rims soon so keep a look out for them in the forsale section. i'm going to have them re-done before i sell them. They are professionally sprayed black base with a white pearl coat. Same with my tailights. One off baby. heres a better pic.

Just for shits and giggles I took literally 2 minutes(all I had to spare right now) and threw together a photoshop for ya. I just made the spokes on your rims a bit darker



I think they look good on your car in silver...but I know how crappy the peeling clear coat can look...so I understand the desire to change things up.

Holy shat, that looks bad ass!

that does look good, id ever go dark or leave it silver. if you went light it would just look like a bad mismatched silver when in contrast with your silver car, if its a lot darker then there will be no mistaking that you did it for a reason.
