What kit did you use, any modifications, anything I should look out for?

Decah is by far the best. I have seen the Verticle door kits break because the hinge has two holes drilled in the center of it for no reason, and is also welded in the middle, as the Decah is a one piece kit. The GT factory doors (the ones that go 90 deg.) Have to be welded on the car and can interfere with fender clearances. There is modification needed on our cars because they have such skinny fenders. A notch must be cut in the front by the wheel well, i'll show you in the pic below. and the inner fender will have to be rolled as with all kits, but its unseen for the most part, and simple to do....



They say the clearance is a problem, but I have 19s and am dropped 2" and have plenty of room to spare, although the picture doesnt show justice there is no way my wheel can physically touch the hinge even on the biggest bump

I had them on there for about a month... it was the biggest pain in my ass that i have ever experienced. I spent probably 3 weekends on the install mostly due to fine tuning it to make them close properly. They looked bad ass.... but it was such a pain getting in and out of the car that i just took them off and sold them.

I say all that because i wish someone would have told me that before i bought them.... however if you just have a show car and its not a daily driver... or if you simply dont care what i say; i got mine off ebay for $400 and although a pain in the ass i thought the quality was really good. It was all one piece like mentioned ^. Rolling the fenders werent too bad, i just cut them rather than roll them but either way. Hope that helps.

why was it so hard to get in and out? i was under the impression you could open them enough to get out without having to lift them up

they open enough to slide in and out, i honestly don't find it that big of a pain in the ass, it takes some getting used to but I can open mine going down the highway at 80 all the way up, got it on video, its not exactly the smartest thing to do but if it was that big of a pain in the ass i don't think i would be able to pull it off

My buddy's got the same ones on his integra. It's just a pain to shut the door itself. If a girl or whoever were getting in the car, they would almost need assistance in order to close it just right. There is a notch on the door at which point it slides into a slot on the door...the slot doesnt always line up just right so if the door is slightly too high or too low it will simply bang into the frame and just bounce off until you line it up right and pull it shut hard enough that the door actually closes entirely.

There are adjustment points on the hinges to ensure the door stops where it should so you can easily close it...but I think as the temperature outside changes and you drive the car..it just doesn't stay quite right, and his hinges are welded to the car also.

Someone who knows how to do it can do it over and over...it's just something that takes getting used too, and it's not so convenient...but it looks badass. This hinge Im referring to is the 500$ range eBay hinges.

ya well i could probably stick my penis out the window going 80mph on the highway too.

that wouldnt be smart either, but neither are the doors :)

to each his own, its not a simple thing to get used to but after doing it day after day its just like a habit, I actually have trouble getting used to driving my ram afterwards its almost strange to open doors normal.

I have the Vertical Doors Inc. kit, and haven't had any problems with it. The one thing I like about this kit is that you can retain your stock wire boot, so that you don't have the wires all over the place. Also, I figured out a fix for the shock coming through the fender so that it isn't noticeable. I do agree that unless you are putting them on a show car that isn't driven daily, it gets a little annoying. BUT it does turn heads everywhere you go!!!
