I am pretty sure that is a stock hinge that has been polished and the rubber insert was replaced with a red one. Mine below was polished by a dremel and looks "bronze" in the light like the one you posted.

thanks, btw beautiful engine bay. I thought it might be a small version of a sway bar mount, I checked around and a couple places make them to hold a 1/2 inch bar.

yup, its stock. as state above they just polished the bracket, replace the black plastic peice with red...and looks like they painted their prop black

if you want somethin fancy get some've those pneumatic strut thingies (like the ones for your trunk). someone was sellin a kit for our cars i think. nifty little mod. my friend's lexus sc300 has those stock and it looks so much nicer holding the hood up that way. i imagine it would suck when they eventually die though. you'd need a stick for your hatch AND a stick for your hood :P

I love my gas struts. $70 from redlinetuning.com. I modified the mounts slightly because I can't leave anyting alone. The one's in the kit are excellent but I wanted people to think these were factory struts.
I would NOT do this gas strut mod to a CF hood unless you know it is strong enough to take the bending forces near the center of the hood when you go to close it.

I just got the same hood dampeners from redline myself. I have a cf hood and bought these because of where I located my hood pins. They eliminate my hood prop. So I will put these on today and let you all know if its an issue with cf hoods.

lol, we obviously have the same problem since i took your advice on where to mount the pins. Let me know how you like the props from redline jeremy. Getting sick of holding up my hood with my head while adding oil or doing a quick check.
