Anyone know where I can find a good price on new or used black interior plastic panels for a 99 eclipse. Currently my interior is beige but it's all dirty adn nasty from the car being in the shop for several reasons. Even the beige seats are nasty so I need to replace them as well. Any ideas?

Ok, if i paint the plastic interior panels that will save me a lot of money. Can this be done and be done in a reliable way? I dont want it scratching off. I've got an air compressor, spray gun, and other good equipment to use. Just wondering if there's a way to do this and it be reliable as the factory coat. Should I use dye instead???

I dyed the interior on mine (keep in mind i do this for a living) and was never satisfied, the panels always scratched pretty easy and felt rough. I ended up stripping it all out and getting factory black panels. They are hard to find, and usually expensive, but well worth it, if your as picky as I am. Heres some for a lucky bidder....

yeah i painted mine. took alot of time in prepping them and then after having to recoat the paint multiple times, i said screw it and replaced them.

The stuff in that ebay auction might be painted black, The panels on the sides of the center console are gray on cars that have a black interior. It took me a while to find all the pices for a balck interior but it is worth it, just make sure you ask if the parts are oem black or painted before you buy them, I got some door sills on ebay that looked like oem in the pictures & when I received them they were painted & looked like crap.

Yeah thats a tough spot your in.... your going to have to clean them very well if you decide to paint them.....they might suprise you and clean up very well...well enough for you to maybe like them again.

i cleaned the shit out of mine. they were all gray. now they are red and black. i painted them with duplicolor out of the can. used about four coats of color and 2 clear. it turned out good. they do scratch easy though.

If your panels scratch easy after painting it's probably because you didn't use adhesion promoter. Most people know paint does not stick to plastic even if sanded. Adhesion promoter will etch itself into the plastic which creates a surface paint will stick to. Painted interior panels done right can not be done in one day. Most people don't have the patience to have there cars ripped apart for more than a few hours and end up doing half-assed work.

Firt to prep panels for adhesion promoter clean with acetone 'once you do this you can't go back' this will strip all silicones from cleaners off panel. Adhesion promoter comes in a spray can it's about $5 a can. This you spray on it even light coats, let dry for 20 minutes. from here you can either paint or urathane filler primer to remove panel texture. Removing texture is time consuming and requires lots of sanding and re-priming. After that I prefer base coat/ clear coat for show finish.

either clean them off real well at a detail place or glass em and paint

just sand the plastic smooth .prime them and add a flex agent . paint them like if you were painting the exterior
