So I just got my first Eclipse. 1995 with a blitz rear bumper, 17inch wheels, and a 99 front bumper. Well, the front bumper has a crack in it where I guess it ran into something, whats the best way to repair it....its at the bottom so you can like pull the bumper apart where its at.

The rear bumper some of the fiberglass was messedup on a tow dolly and I am debating on keeping it and fixing the fiberglass, how hard is this. Or Taking it off and putting on a stock rear bumper...the car is really low ... what should I do..also the bumper is molded on so how will this effect getting it off? Thanks!

Molded! basically your screwed. It will come off but your looking at alot of paint work. If it was my car I'd remove it and paint the whole car because your going to have to paint half of it to fix what you got.

Exactly why I didnt mold any of my kit, nor get the widebody.

Oh I forgot to mention, Im repainting the whole car... lol so I was gonna remove the bumper and replace it befor I did it....how hard to get off?

well that all depends on how it was put on. It could be a bitch to get off the car. First sand down to you see the true body line where the bumper meets the rear quarter panel. Then remove bolts behide bumper holding it on, and hammer on it with your hand and see if it breaks free. If they used adhesive try a heat gun and get it really hot (i was told adhesive will release under intense heat) if not your going to have to break the bumper then grind the remainder of the body work off the rear quarter panel.

k...well what could they have used besides bondo to connect it and make it look molded..it was cracking in one spot so it may be easy to do..

well if you have no clue what they used and it is cracking that is bondo. Did they use the right kind of bondo is the ??????? I would personally re-do it if it's cracking. No point repainting for it to crack on you later. I use a product called Dura glass, it is a reinforced filler to do my work mostly, I also use another product call fibral which is a fiberglass filler that is reinforced and spreads like bondo. I seen hundreds of bad mold jobs and I would risk nothing. I have tested my technics and tried to bust my molding just to see how stong. Can you get pic's for me? the only other trick if you never touch filler before is getting them smooth it is possible but you'll be sanding your ass off until its perfect. I can give you a couple tips how to work the filler quickly and how to get it feather'd out nicely.

Im repainting thr whole car..So Imma just remove the bumper...if its cracking now you think I could just rip it off then smooth out the quarter panel....how hard will that bondo be to get off...

I personally wouldn't mess around I'd take 40 grit and rip right through it but you gotta know when to stop and also how to fix them deep scratches you'll put in your metal. If your unsure use 80 grit.

k well Ive painted/done body work on two cars of mine...so I think imma just take bumper bolts out and give it a tug...if its bondo shouldnt it just break loose...What they did is bolted the bumper on like normal, no glue or anything...then they filled the cracks with bondo...

I know if it was my bodywork a tug wouldn't do it. You could try it though. But your going to want to get that filler off the car.

update: im just going to repair it and fix it...the way its busted up its easy to do ill get pics!

cool deal. use a grinder and grind out the crack and patch it up.

yep then imma fiberglass the little lip above the license plate and be good lol

try to figure out why it cracked where it did, and make sure it is rein-forced good in that area to prevent future cracking. Don't be afraid to dig when opening that crack in the body work.

well I have to get it off now...I had to back up my car without it running...Long story..anyways I hit the back bumper and well seems they just fiberglassed over the seam line thing...well anyways it broke off clean from the quarter panel on the complete right side...just they feathered out the fiberglass so ill get the DA out and use 80 grit(is that good)? And then sand all the fiberglass off...then replace

I got it off...came off with a big tug..I used a chisel(special thing) to get fiberglass off...per\fect
